Description

closed after the inflation of the bag by tying a string or the like around the flange. Each bag, head or target 2l is of a form so that when inflated it will assume somewhat a spherical shape, and on the exterior of each head or bag may be painted or otherwise inscribed the face of a person, as 24a, or other suitable figure to make the bag an attractive target.
'Ihe bag, head or target 2l of each figure is removably attached to the body la of each figure by means of a clamp or clip, as 25,
' which is provided at the neck 20 of the body.
Each clamp may be of any preferred or well known type, though the form of the clamp illustrated is vcomposed of two substantially S-shaped members or strips 26 and 27. These strips of each clamp are disposed crosswise of each other, and the lapping central parts of the strips are held on one end of a pivot 28 provided across the neck 2O of the body 14.. Each clip is thereby arranged exteriorly of the body of each of the figures 13 as Well as being arranged so that one of the corresponding ends of the clip protrudes above the neck of its body, while the second corresponding ends of the clip extends downwardly from the neck. The parts of the strips 26 and 27 of each clamp below the pivot 28 are formed so that they are in spaced relation to serve as handles p A29 and 30 and the parts of the strips of each clamp above the pivot are curved outwardly of each other and then curved inwardly so that their free ends are in normal contact for serving as coacting jaws 3l and 32. On the pivot 28 of each clamp is a spring 33 which is tensioned for causing to yieldingly force the handles 29 and 30 normally from each other and in turn causing the jaws 31 and 32 to be normally forced yieldingly so that 4their ends abut against each other. To detachably fasten the breakable explosive target or head or bag` 2l to its respective body the clamp 25 of the figure is operated by forcing thehandles 29 and 30 toward each other. The jaws 31 and 32 of the clamp will then be swung apart, and the flange 24 of the target or head is inserted between the jaws. l/Vhen `the handles are released the tension of the spring 33 of the clamp will cause the jaws to engage the flange of the target which in turn will be releasably held soV that personsmay exercise their skill to accurately throw a ball or missile for the purpose of bursting the inflated explosive target. Moreover, by makina` the target so that when inflated itwill be lighter than air, and by retainingl the target on the body, as above explained, currents of air will cause theV target to shift in various directions so that it will be somewhat difficult to be struck and bursted. Following the bursting of the target ofone of the figures it may be removed from the body by reoperating its clamp, and the body is then replenished vwith a new inflated bicakable explosive tarfications may be made therein without de t parting from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention, therefore, I reserve to myself the right to make such changes as fairly fall within the scope thereof.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent l. In an amusement device, a stationary support, a removable infiated baglike element above the support to serve as a target, said element being of breakable material whereby it will burst when struck by a propelled missile and the element being lighter than air and part of the element being held to the support so that currents of air will cause the element to move.
- 2. In an amusement device, a stationary support, a removable baglike element above the support to serve as a target for being struck by a propelled missile, said element being of fragile material whereby it will break when struck by the missile and the element Jbeing infiated with gaseous fluid under compression for producing an explosive sound when bursted and the element being lighter than air as well as part of the element being held to the support so that currents of air will cause the element to move.
3. An amusement device, comprising a support, a body fixed on the support, a clamp on the body, and an inflated target held by the clamp for being struck by a propelled missile, said target being of breakable material whereby it will burst when contacted by the missile.

5. An amusement device, comprising a support, a hollow body fixed on the support, a clamp on the body and a hollow inflated target removably held by the clamp for being struck by a propelled missile, said target being of breakable material whereby it will burst when contacted by the missile and the target being lighter than air as well as being held so that currents of ainwill cause under compression for producing an explo the target to move. sive sound when bursted as Well as being 6.
