'citizen ofthe United States, residing at Iowa City, in the county of Johnson and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gasolene-Reno vators, of which the following is a specification. I This invention relates to gasolene renovators. More particularly, it belongs in the class of apparatus allied to oil filters,'and it is intended and designed to be used in renovating gasolene. Gasolene which has been employed to cleansefabrics of various kinds, or gloves, clocks and other. devices or implements carries mixed in it not only oils, but dirt and miscellaneous foreign particles.
in fit condition to be used again it is necessary-to pass it through renovating substances and then allow it to settle, whereupon a very considerable part of the impurities will be removed. This invention has been found especially convenient useful for the purpose stated.
The invention comprises combinations of parts of special construction and arrangement whereby it is believed. the renovation dfgasolene is carried out with less expense and with greater rapidity than by the employment of any kindred devices of which this applicant. has present knowledge.

In like manner it is occasionally desirable to introduce gasolene from differently situated sources'of suppl and without using the main vertical pipe throughout its entire extent. Therefore, the two auxiliary pipes F, having a valve f, and pipe M, having the valve m, are rovidedand connected as shown.
For the withdrawal ore'scape of the renovated gasolene there is employed an outlet pipe comprising a pivoted portion G within the tank, continued 'by the stationary portion-g extending outside the tank. The two portionsof the outlet pipe, G and g are connected by a pivotal joint that the free end of the "portion 6% may be floated upwardly by means of the float h, shown in Fig.
To permit theimpurities'to be drawn off, the outlet pipe K having the valve is connected with the conical bottom C and opens into the bottom just above the lower end of the inclined catch plate L. The plate L makes an inclined partition within the bottom C, and is constructed with astraight edge Z between which and the upper part of the conical bottom an opening is left for the straight edge I of the plate L, and the opening mentioned are best shown in-Fig. 3.

In the operation of this invention, a charge of the chosen renovating substances is introduced into the cylinder or container D, and the dirty gasolene, whether sent in by way of the main pipe E or through the auxiliary service pipe 5, is forced upwardly into the tank and allowed to settle. Having now described this invention, and explained the mode of its operation, what I claim is a 1. In a gasolene renovator, the combination with a tank having a conical bottom, of a container connected with and extending downwardly from said conical bottom, the lower end of the container being closed, means for draining the container, inlet tubes opening into the bottom of the container, a catch plate arranged in the said conical bottom and making an inclined partition therein over the mouth of the said container, the upper edge of said platebeing spaced from the upper part of said conical bottom, an outlet pipe opening into the said conical bottom at the lower end of the catch plate, and means for drawing gasolene from the tank.
2. In a gasolene renovator, the combination with a tank having a conical bottom, of a container connected with and extending downwardly from said conical bottom, the lower end of the container being closed, inlet tubes opening into the bottom of the con tainer, a catch plate arranged in the said conical bottom and making an inclined partition therein over the mouth of the said container, the upper edge "of thesaid plate being spaced from the upper part of the said conical bottom, an outlet pipe opening into the said conical bottom at the lower end of the said catch plate, an outlet tube passing into the tank, and a tube in the tank provided witha float and pivotally connected with said outlet tube to draw renovated gasolene' from the top of the body of gasolene in the tank In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
