GIANNI CAPRONI, OF MILAN, ITALY.
MULTIPLANE FLYING-MACHINE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 26, 1920.
Application filed February 13, 1920. Serial no. 358,446.
plurality of longitudinal girders or fuselages and a car, which are tied and fastened to the'framework's of the multiplane groups more particularly with reference to my copending application of the same date.
In a flying machine of the above type the invention consists in arranging the engines at the ends of the side girders or fuselages of the machine.
The accompanying drawing represents a plan view of a flying machine, showing the arrangement of the engines according to the present invention.
A detailed specification of the flying machine is given in my co-pending application of the same date, mentioned above, and is not necessary for the understanding of the present invention. Generally speaking the machine comprises multiplane groups 1-,
-2, 3 combined with girders or fuselages 4- and stay-cables 6 and other means for sustaining a car 7- and floats According to this invention the engines 9, -ll, 13- and -15 are arranged at the ends of the side girders or fuselages -4 and other engines -10, 12, 14 and -16- are arranged centrally relatively to the front and the rear multiplane group in separate nacelles secured under the middle planes.
In the construction where intermediate girders or fuselages are mounted between the outer ones 4 it is to be understood that no engines will be mounted upon. such intermediate girders or fuselages.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is: In a flying machine. including a plurality of multiplane groups and spaced parallel and longitudinally disposed girders connecting the groups, cock pits provided at the ends of the girders, engines mounted in the cock pits, independent nacelles mounted in the front and rear multiplane groups and additional engines mounted in the nacelles.
In testimony whereof I have afiixed my signature.
GIANN I CAPRON I.
