Description

R. SILLER.
SHAVING STICK HOLDER- APPLICATION FILED DEC.1I,19I9.
Patented Oct. 19, 1920.
8 m K N WITNESSES UNITED STATES PATENT ori ice,
RICHARD SILLER, 0F BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
SHAVING-STICK HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Oct, 19, 1920,
Application filed December 11, 1919. Serial No. 344,241.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD SILLER, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the city of New York, in the borough of Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented anew and Improved Shaving-Stick Holder, of which the extend beyond the holder, a suitable remov-- able protecting handle being provided which in no way comes in contact with the stick, but at the same time serves to protect the unused portion of the stick and prevents it from becoming dried or otherwise deteriorating.
It is understood that it is not broadly new to provide a shaving stick holder, but in the holders heretofore provided, a construction has not been provided which would permit a certain portion of the stick to be fed through a threaded collar or member, permitting a certain portion of the stick to be used, while the other portion of the stick is protected by a cover holder spaced from the stick, but removable from the above mentioned threaded collar or member, to permit the stick to be independently fed therethrough. V
One of the objects of this invention is to provide a shaving stick holder of simple and compact construction, inexpensive to manufacture, which will accomplish the results above mentioned.
A further object of this invention is to provide a shaving stick construction which will permit a desired length of the stick to be exposed for use, and will enable the stick to be fed through a threaded collar independently of a protecting holder removably connected to the collar.
A further object of this invention is to provide a construction which will enable substantially the entire length of a shaving stick to be used, thus eliminating a certain waste which has resulted from they use of certain holders heretofore provided.
Still a further object of this invention is to provide a shaving stick holder which will enable a new shaving stick to be inserted within the holder before the other stick has been substantially entirely consumed.
TVith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, arrangement and combination of parts hereinafter'more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings showing for example a practical embodiment of the invention, similar characters or" reference designating corresponding parts in the several views, t
Figure l is an elevation view partly in section of aholder embodying the inven tion.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view,'with the ban .dle or holder removed, showing the manner in which a shaving stick is'independently fed through a collar.
With reference more particularly-tothe accompanying drawings s showing for eX- ample a practical embodiment of the invention," the holder comprises a collar having :1 tubular cylindrical threaded portion 1, open at each end, and another outer tubular casing 2 substantiallyconcentric with and spaced from the cylindrical tubular portion 1, thecasing and threaded portion being "in tegrally connected at one end 3 of the collar. The threaded portion of the collar is adapted to receive a shaving stick 4 orthe like, the threads of the collar serving as a means of holding the shaving stickin proper position, and as a means of progressively feeding the stick therethrough. Then the shaving stick is inserted in the collar, it is intended that a relatively small portion 5 of the stick will extend beyond one end of the collar, and that another part 6 of the stick will extend beyond the other side of the collar. As a means of conveniently holding the article, and in order to provide a protective covering for one end 6 of the stick to prevent the soap from drying out and deteriorating, a handle or protective covering 7 is removably secured to the collar. In the form shown, the protective covering 7 as a handle, and is shown as comprising a cylindrical tubular casing closed at one end 8, and open at the other end,and is provided with a threaded portion 9 at the open end, which fits within the space between the outer casing 2, and the threaded portion 1' of thecollar. It is to be noted that no part of the protective covering 7 is in contact with serves the stick 6 theret hrough with the other hand 11. After the desired length of the stick has been fed through the collar, the holder or protective covering 7 is placed over the non functioning end of the stick 6 and reapplied to the collar; By such a construction, irrespective of the length of the shaving stick, the holder of constant length is provided.
An advantageous feature of a feeding collar open at both ends, is that after one shaving stick has been substantially used up, another stick may be fed or started in the collar 1 before the first stick is completely consumed. If desired, the holder 7 may be partially withdrawn from the collar in order to accommodate the new stick. It is thus seen that by feeding the new stick through the collar, the remaining, portion of the old stick is forced forward, so that substantially the entire length of the stick may thus be utilized.
In order to furnish a protective covering for the projecting portion 5 of the stick, when not in use, any suitable cap 12 may be provided to telescopingly engage the outer casing 2 of the collar. It is to be understood that this invention is not to be limited to certain details of construction herein shown, but that the same may be varied to suit individual preference, and conditions of use.
lVhile one practical embodiment of the invention has been shown, it is to be understood that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope ofthis invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claimas new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is':
1. A soap stick holder comprising a container having an open internally threaded end, a n pple having spaced concentric inner and outer walls connected at one end and adapted to receive and inclose the open end threads respectively engaging the threaded end of the container and a soap stick adjustable through said nipple, and a cap adapted to telescopically engage the outer wall of the nipple.
A soap stick holder comprising a housing having aninternally threaded open end, a nipple having inner and outer concentric walls connected at one end and adapted to receive and inclose the open threaded end of the housing, the inner and outer surfaces oi the inner wall having threads thereon for respectively engaging a shaving soap stick and the internal threaded end of the housing, and a cap adapted to telescopically engage the outer surface of the outer wall to inclose the extremity of the shaving stick projecting therefrom. V
l. A soap stick holder comprising a housing having an internally threaded end, a nipple having concentric outer and inner walls connected at one end for receiving and inclosing the open end of the housing, the said inner wall having an external threaded surface tor engagement'with the internally threaded end of the housing and an internal threaded surface for engagement with a soap stick for supporting the same within the housing and whereby upon removal of the housing from the nipple adjustments of the soap with respect to the nipple may be effected.
