To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, PETER BAUSANO and JOHN W. PETAJ'A, citizens of the United States, residing at Ahmeek, in the county of Keweenaw and State of Michigan, have in vented certain new and useful Improve ments in Wrap-Holders for Chair-Backs; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

Our invention relates to improvements in wrap holders for chair backs, and is particularly adapted for theater chairs in mov-. ing picture parlors, theaters, amusement parks and the like, and is so constructed as to permit coats and wraps of various sizes to be supported to the back of the chair and out of the way.

A further object of this invention is to provide a wrap support adapted to be secured to the back of a chair and equipped with novel means for supporting hats, coats and the like thereto.

Another object of this invention is to provide a novel wrap support of this character, which will be simple, practical and comparatively inexpensive in construction, and one that can be manufactured and sold at a low cost.

WVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and set forth in the claim hereto appended.

Referring to the drawing, the numeral 5 indicates a theater chair having supporting feet 6, a seat 7, a back 8 and arm rests 9. To the back 8 of the chair our improved wrap sup ort or holder is adapted to be secured. ur improved wrap holder is formed of a single length wire of sufiicient size and strength for the purpose used. The wire is bent to provide an inverted U-shaped Specification of Letters Patent.

frame 10 and the arms of the frame are offset outwardly at a point-adjacent their connection with the web 11. The lower terminals of the arms are coiled to provide a plurality of convolutions l2'which constitute a spring, The terminal of the last convolution 12 is bent upwardly to provide a supporting armlS which is in spaced parallel relation with the arms of the frame 10. The terminals of the supporting arm 13 terminate into attaching eyes 14 through which are adapted to extend suitable fastening means 15 such as screws or the like to rigidly secure the device to the back of a chair as illustrated in Fig. 1.

The supporting arms '13 are arranged on the front face of the chairand are secured thereto, positioning the coils 12 adjacent the lower edge of the back 8. The frame is adapted to engage the rear side of the back 8 of the chair so as topermit wraps or other articles .to be arranged over the web of the frame.

Theweb 11 has arranged thereon suitable tube 16 constructed of rubber or other flexible material so as to prevent injury to the garments placed thereon. It will be apparent that, when the garments are to be placed upon the web 11, it is only necessary to grasp one of the arms and pull outwardly on the same through the medium of the springs 12, and the garments may then be placed over the web 11 and roller 16 and then permit the frame to move in the direction of the back 8 and the garments will be clamped between the back and frame.

A hat or other article supporting clamp 17 comprises a pair of clamping jaws 18 to which is secured a handle 19. The handles 19 extend through the member 20, which member is adapted to urge the jaws 18 into clamping engagement with one another. The terminal of one handle 19 is curved back upon itself and into engagement with its respective handle to provide a loop 21 which is adapted to be slidably mounted on the tube 16 to permit it to be moved from one side of the frame to -the other.

It will be understood that in the use of the preferred form of the invention, it is only necessary to fasten the supporting arms clamped between the frame and back. The

Referring to the modificationillustrated in Fig. 3, the frame is designated by the numeral 28 and is formed of suitable'tubingadapted for the purpose. This frame is of an inverted .U-shaped formation and has its arms at the point of connection with the web offset outwardly as at 24. "The hollow arms ofthe frame 23 are provided adjacent their lowerends with. a transverse boss 25 which Communicates with. the interior ofthe arms.

The modification is attached to. a chair in the identical manner of the preferred form and its. advantages v are derived from the fact that should one of the springs 27 become unfit for. further use, it may be readily removed through the medium' of the screws 25 and replaced with a new one.

An article holder adapted to he applied to a chair comprising a pair of' rods provided with coils atpoints betweentheir ends, the rods. being provided at one end with eyes adapted to receive securing devices whereby the holder is attached to the back'of a chair with the coil positioned-below the lower'edge of the back and the other ends of the rods extending behind the rear surface of the back of the chair, a tubular and approximately .u shaped frame member re .ceiving the rear end portions of the rods, clamp ng screws passlng through the [end portlons of the. tubular member and engaging the endportions ofthe rods and a sleeve loosely journaled upon the intermediate portion of the U-shaped member.
