ALTEN- BERG, a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing at Cincinnati, in the county ,of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in `Heat- Insulated Vessels and Casings Therefor, of which the following is a specification.
`invention is particularly applicable to vacuum-insulated pots or pitchers, or similar vessels, hereinafter for Convenience referred to as pots, adaptedr for serving coifee, chocolate, tea, milk, cream, or other beverages. Y. i l i It is the object of my invention to provide new and improved means for connecting the mouth-end Yof the inner .vessel of a heat-insulated pot with its outer casing inV such manner that the inner vessel may be removed, and that a leakless joint may be providedl between the' inner vessel and the pouring wall ofthe casing. v f
Itv has been diflicult in vessels of, this char-v acter toprovide connecting means between the mouth of the inner vessel Vand the pouring wall ofthe casing which properly relatively locate Ythe parts and preventY the contents of the inner vessel seeping or leaking Vthrough the ioint between the inner yvessel and the pouring4 wall of the casing. Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to vsecure by Letters Patent, is:
l. In a heat-insulated vessel, the -combination of an inner vessel and a lcasing therefor, said inner vessel comprising a mouth, said casing comprising a downwardly inwardly sloping closed pouring wall provided' with an inwardly extending closed lip, a compressible cushion between said mouth of said inner vessel and said casing provided with a compressible lip received between said first-named lip and said mouth of said inner vessel, and means whereby to pinch said compressible lip between said first-named lip and said mouth of said inner vessel, the inner edge of said first-named lip extending inwardly beyond the inner edge of said compressible lip, and said firstnamed lip spaced from said mouth of said inner vessel to form a slight inner groove between said irstnamed lip and said mouth.
2. In a heat-insulated vessel, the combination of an inner vessel and a casing therefor, said inner vessel comprising a mouth having an upper end which is rounded in cross section, said casing comprising a downwardly and inwardly sloping closed pouring wall provided with an inwardly extending closed lip provided with a bead at its inner closed edge, said bead projecting toward said inner vessel and arranged to coact` with said rounded upper end of said mouth, a resilient compressible cushion-ring between said mouth of said inner vessel and said casing provided with a resilient compressible lip received between said bead and said rounded upper end of said mouth of said inner vessel, and means whereby to pinch said resilient compressible lip between said bead and said rounded upper end of said mouth of said inner vessel in relation to expose the inner edge of said resilient compressible lip toward the inside of said vessel between said mouth and said first-named lip.
3. In a heat-insulated vessel, the combination of an inner vessel comprising a mouth, a casing therefor comprising a downwardly and inwardly sloping `closed pouring wall provided with an inwardly extending closed pouring lip, a cushion received about said mouth of said inner vessel having a radially inwardly extending closed cushion lip received between said first-named lip and said mouth of said inner vessel, said first-named 4. 5. In a heat-insulated vessel, the combination of an inner vessel comprising an inner wall and an outer wall connected by a cross-seal at the mouth of said inner vessel and having a vacuum-insulated space between said wallsq a casing for said vessel provided with a lip releasably received over and around said mouth and having a radially outwardly and upwardly extending wall receding outwardly` away from said mouth and forming a drain wall sloping toward said mouth, said lip provided with a downwardly extending inner bead, a resilient compressible cushion-ring removably received about said mouth and provided with a resilient compressible radially inwardly extending lip received between said downwardly extending inner bead and said cross-seal, and means for pinching said resilient compressible lip between said bead and said cross-seal.
