for an object the provision of a device, by.
means of which the juices may be squeezed from either fresh or cooked fruits, without staining or burning the hands.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, by means of which the maximum amount of juice may be obtained from the fruit and the operation performed with aminimum amount of time and labor.
Other objectsand advantages of the invention will appear as the following description is read in connection with the accompanying drawings,
In the drawings Figure 1 is a side elevation showing the invention in position for use.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line 33 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a vertical section on the line 4-4 of Fig. 1. j V
Fig. 5 is an enlarged view showing the connection between the squeezing members and the adjustable positioning nuts.
Fig. 6 is a detail view of one of the squeezing members equipped with a detachable plate for use in connection with the small fruits.
Fig. 7 is a transverse sectional View of the same.
Referring in detail to the drawings, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the invention comard is hollow and receives within its upper 7 end one end of an angular arm'13, which is held stationary with respect to the standards by means of a set screw 14. The opposite end of the arm 13 is connected to a horizontally arranged ring 15 which is designed to hang as a support for a container in the form of a'cloth bag 16.
The bag .16 is open at its top and is secured to a ring 17 of slightly greater diameter than the ring 14, so that when the bag is passed through the last mentioned ring, it will be held suspended with the ring 17 restin upon the ring 15.
ounted for sliding movement upon the standard 12 is a block 18, the latter being held in adjusted position upon-the standard Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Sept. 14, 1920.
by means of a set screw 19. Pivotally secured to the block 18 is a pair of squeezing members 20. These members are formed of substantially parallel side bars 21, which are connected by transverse bars 22 and form a grate like arrangement having projecting from one end an arm 23,.which is pivotally connected to the nut 18, while projecting from the opposite ends of the grate like squeezing members are handles 24. After act as a support for a receptacle 24 to re ceive the juices. I V
For use in connection with small fruits such as berries, cherries and the like, there is provided a perforated plate 25, which is adapted to be removably secured along the inner faces of the squeezing members 20 as illustrated in Figs. 6 and 7 of the drawings.
Any desired means may be employed for holding the plate 25 in position.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportion and minor details of construction, and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the .scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new is 1. 'A device of the class described coma I the fruit has been placedwitliin the bag 1'6 I and the pivoted ends of the squeezing memmounted on said standard, and a pair of squeezing members pivotally mounted on I the block.
2. A device of the class described comprising a base, a standard secured thereto, a
laterally extending horizontally disposed ring supported by said standard, a bag removably secured to the ring and a pair of 10 squeezing members pivotally and adjustably mounted on said standard.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
CHARLES S. LUDWIG.
