Description

H. S. FOLGER.
STAMP MOUNT.
APPLICATION FILED NOV. 29, 1918.
Pmwa July 20, 1920.
HARRY S. FOLGER, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
STAMP-MOUN T.
Application filed November 29, 1918.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY S. F OLGER, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stamp-Mounts, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to stamp mounts for hand stamps and has for its object improvement in such devices.
In the accompanying drawings- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the entire device;
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section;
Fig. 3 is a transverse central section the screw in elevation;
Fig. 4 is an enlarged transverse section with'the handle removed.
The mount consists of a single piece of sheet metal bent back upon itself and formed into a channel in the manner best seen in Figs. 1 and 4. Inside of this channel is cemented the cushion C, on which is secured the type T.
The sides of the channel consist of inner layers 11 and outer layers 12. The interior or back of the channel is the portion 13 which joins the layers 11. The edges of the outer layers 12 are bent inward to form hooks 14 which are removeda short distance above the upper face of the connecting portion 13. Between the layers 12, and between the hooks 14 and connecting portion with Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 20, 1920. Serial No. 264,509.
13, is a cardboard or label 15 for indicating what is upon the stamp.
Extending out from the centers of the edges which form the hooks 14 are projections 15 which are stamped to form the two halves of a wood screw, as best seen in Figs. 3 and 4. In normal condition, the halves 15 stand out from each other as shown in Fig. 4. In this condition it is easy to slide the board or label B in or out of the labelholding channel formed by the hooks 14 coming over the connecting portion 13. But when the handle H is screwed into place the two halves of the screw 15 are drawn together, as shown in Fig. 3, and when so drawn together, the hooks 14 are drawn in upon and clamp the label B so as to hold it securely in place.
IVhat I claim is:
A stamp mount consisting of sheet metal bent to form a stamp-holding channel, the metal forming the sides of such channel being bent back upon itself and extending in the form of hooks located above the outer corners of said channel to form a labelholding channel, and handle-holding projections extending from said hooks and. so arranged that upon a handle being placed upon said projections the said hooks will be drawn inward to clamp a label held in the label-holding channel.
