I claim.
l. i combination heel comprising a Wear resisting bottom portion, said bottom portion being formed with a plurality of openings arranged to extend transversely therethrough, a layer of hard rubber disposed above: and secured to said Wear resisting bottom portion, a layer of soft resilient rubber surmounting said layer of hard rubber and secured thereto, and a plurality of tacks for securing said combination heel to a' shoe or similar article, each of said tacks being inserted through one of said openings until the head thereof is substantially flush With the, under surface of said layer of hard rubber.

A combination heel comprising a Wear -through, a layer of hard rubber disposed above said bottom portion and secured reaches thereto by stitching, a layer of soft resili' ent rubber surmounting said layer of hard rubber and secured thereto, and a plurality of tacks for securing said combination heel to a shoe or similar article, each of said tacks being inserted through one of said lgc of soft resilient rubber surmountingthelayer of hard rubber and secured to the latter by cementing, and a plurality of taclrs for securing said-combination heel to a shoe or similar article, each of said tacks being inserted through one of said openings,- until. the head thereoi. is substantially flush with the under surface of said layer of hard rubber,
