One object of the invention is to provide means whereby the line may be pulled around so that it will stand in a convenient place for fastening the clothes upon the line, and thereafter swung around so that the window of the porch or the room from which the clothes are fastened to the line,

may be closed while the clothes are drying.

Another object of the invention is to rovide means whereby one line will be eld away from the other line to prevent it from touching the clothes, thereby preventing them from being soiled.

Another object of the inventionis to provide for the safety of the person hanging up the clothes, the arm swin ing. around into the room to make it possible to hang up the clothes without leaning out of the window.

Other objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawings in which the same reference numeral is applied to the same portion throughout, but I am aware that there may be modifications thereof.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device as it appears applied to a window frame and in use.

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the window frame to which the clothes line holder has been applied, showing the window closed and the holder outside the window.

Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the holder, and I Fig. 4 is a sectional view of a portion of the holder showing the manner of securing the movable plate to the clothes line holding arm.

In the drawings, the numeral 1 indicates a window frame or other suitable post of a room or porch to which the plate 2 is suitably secured with fastenings suflicient to withstand the considerable Weight to be applied thereto.

The plate has two prongs 3- and 4, the

former of which has a latch plate 5 pivoted I thereon. Mounted on the plate 2 is a plate 6 which may be turned on a rivet 7 which connects it with the plate 2. The plate 6 has two flanges 8 and 9 by which it is pivotally connected to a channeled bar 10 having a small pulley 11 at one end and a larger pulley 12 at the other'end.

The arm 10 is so pivoted to the flanges 8 and 9 that when said arm is turned at ri ht angles to the position shown inFig. 3, t at said arm may be turned into the slot between the two prongs 3 and 4, and permanently secured in that position by means of the latch 5. Said latch is-then turned down to engage the prong 4 and cable 13 passing around the pulleys l1 and 12 in the bottom of the channeled arm 10 and at a distance from the support of the arm 10; said cable passing around a pulley 14 on a post 15 at a suitable elevation from the ground.

In operation, the arm-is swung around to the position shown in the dotted lines in Fig.

3 thereby bringing the rope or cable closer into the room or porch upon which the clothes line holder is installed. The clothes may then be fastened upon the line, Whereupon the arm 10 is turned to the position shown in Fig. 2, whereupon the window may be closed.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letone of the lugs to engage the other lug, a
