To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY A. KENDALL, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Baltimore, State of" Maryland, have invented certain new-and useful Improvements in Looks for Automobiles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact'description of the invention, such as will GHELbIGDtl'IGI'S skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same;
adaptedto prevent the withdrawal of the My inventionrelates to the'construction of locks for automobiles, and especially to that class where clamp members containing will also effectively resist the removal of the clamp. A further feature of my invention involves, in conjunction with the above recited combination, the'fpr'ovision on the interior of'the tubularloc'k casing of projections lock from its tubular casing after it has been inserted and finally seated therein, whereby the disassociation of the combining elements is prevented without the application of destructive force. A further feature of my invention involves the combination with clamp members having alined threaded openings and an exter'nally threaded tubular lock casing, said clamp members and lock-casing having openings for the passage of the lock-bolt,

It is, together with the lock-bolt 13, introduced through the lock-casing 7 and ,forced into position in the openings 9 and1 0, by
means of'a screw driver or any suitable tool.
The steering post P is at this time manipulated by means'of the usual steering wheel until the lock-bolt can be pushed into the keeper slot in the steering post, afterwhich the lock cylinder L with the key inserted and turned to the locked position i is introduced into the tubular casing 7 and pushed down gnltil' the pin 12 engages in the slot of lock- While the lock is held in this pqsition the key is turned to the unlocked position and the steering post is moved to. ascertain whether the lock bolt is properly engaged .by the pin on the lock-member Z. If everything is found to operate properly the lock cylinder is pushed to its final posltion, thus allowing the projections 11 on the interior of the tubular casing 7 to snap into a recess Z or behind a shoulder on the lock cylinder,
thereby connectingthe several members comprising the automobile lock in a manner preventing disassociation'of the combined elements by any'force less than a destructive one. r I

with interlocking clamp members adapted to 1nclose and bind upon a steering column, said clamp members having a lock-bolt'opening and openings for the reception of a lock casing, of a tubular lock casing haying said clamp members. a
2. In an automobile lock the combinameans for interlocking engagement with tionwith interlocking clamp members pro:
vided with a lock-bolt opening and with threaded openings for the reception of a tubular lock casing, of an externally threaded tubular lock-casing for connecting said clamp members and causing them to inclose and bind on a steering post.
3. In an automobile lock, the V combination with interlocking clamp -,mem'bers, adapted to inclose and bind on a steering column, said clamp member-shaving alockbolt opening and openings for the. reception of a tubular lock casing, of, a tubular lockcasing having means for interlocking vwith said clamp members and also having means for interlocking with a lock adapted to be inserted within said tubular lock casing.
4C. In an automobile lock, the combination with interlocking clamp members having threadedopenings for the reception of a casing having on its interior projectionsfor engaging and retaining an inserted lock.
5. In an automobilelock, the combination with interlocking clamp members having,
openings for the reception of a tubular lock casing, of a "tubular lock casing provided with means for interlocking with the clamp members, said tubular lock casing and clamp "members having openings for the passage of a locking bolt, and a thimble or bushing for said lockbolt openings, said bushing being adapted to be introduced through the tubular lock casing. 1
