B-e it known that I, JAMES E. PERRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and tate of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements .in Oil-Burning Heaters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others, skilled inthe art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in'oil burning heaters and consists of a simple and efficient device of this nature having various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in theappended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a top plan view of the apparatus.

Fig. il is a sectional view on line #lrfl of Fig l looking in the direction of the arrow.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates the Jframe of the apparatus which may be supported in any suitable manner as by means of the bracket members A', preferably in the tire box of a boiler, the latter being shown in dotted lines by letter A2. Said frame has supported therein two L-shaped water tanks, designated by letters B and C, corresponding ends of which are positioned adjacent to each other, as shown in Fig. l of the drawings. A. pipe, designated by letter F and containing a valve F, is connected to the source of supply and water is fed therethrough to one of the tanks B near its end, the connection of the pipe with the tank being shown in dotted lines in Fig. l of the drawings, and a pipe J connects the inner adjacent ends of the tanks B and C and through which water is permitted to pass from one tank to the other, said pipe J being connected as shown in Fig. 4 with the bottoms of said tank. Apipe G is connected to and communicates with the tank C, near its end, as shown in Fig. l of the drawings, `and said pipe G has a valve Gr therein adapted `to control the flow of the water through the pipe Grv as it returns vto its source of supply which is-a tank, not `shown, and from which the water is drawnv through said pipe F. A. third tank, vdesignated by letter E, positioned intermediate portions of the tanks B and C and pipes Hand I lead to and communicate with the tank E, the point of connections between the pipes I-I and I being through openings in the bottom of the tank E. The pipe I-I is adapted to receive a supply of water from any source to be heated, and water flowing from the tank E is adapted to pass through the pipe I, regulated -by valve I and is designed to be con'veyed,.pref erably, to the upper' portion of the boiler A2. A suitable pipe M communicates between the pipes F and I-I and is'controlled by a valve regulated by the hand wheel M and a similar pipe R- communicates between the. pipes I and G and is regulated by a valve Yhavin-g a hand wheel R.
An oil pan -O is positioned intermediate the tanks B and C and an oil supply pipe L leads to and communicates through an opening in the inclined bottom of the oil pan. The pipe L is provided` with a valve regulated by the hand wheel O and a branching pipe L2, shown in t-op plan view Fig. 1, runs in different angled directions and is provided with an orilice O2 where the oil, previously vaporized by heat from oil burning in the pan beneath, makes eXit and is burned. Stand pipes N rise from the various tanks and communicate therewith and have their upper ends closed, said pipes N adapted to contain water to be heated.
In operation, oil is admitted to the pan where it is ignited. and heat 'from the flames serves to heat up the oil which passes to the branching pipe L2 and which in the gaseous form is ignited at the orifice O2. rI`he heat generated from the burning of the oil together with the heat which may be generated in the ire box in which the apparatus is positioned tends to heat up the water in the tanks B, C and E. The water which enters the tank B through the medium of the pipe F, coming from a supply tank not shown, is heated as it circulates through the tanks B and C and makes exit through the pipe G back to the supply tank, not shown. The water heated in the tank E and which enters the latter through the pipe H makes exit through the pipe l and is adapted to pass to the upper portion of the boiler Where Water in a heated state passing through the pipe H serves as a quick means for heating the Water in the upper portion of the boiler, While the Water in the lower portion of the boiler is further heated by the lire in the lire boX in Which the apparatus is positioned.
In case of excess pressure in the boiler, the valves H and I may be closed and valves R and M may be opened and which will permit the heated Water 'from the tank E which passes through the pipes R and M to the Water pipes F and G, thus permitting the water in the tank E to commingle With the Water from the tanks B and C and circulate through the supply tank, not shown, and with which the pipes G and F are adapted to communicate. It will be understood that the valves R and M are to be opened only when it is desired to have the heated Water in the three tanks to circulate from one tank to another.
`When it is desired to cause hot Water to flow to the boiler from the three tanks, the valves G and F are closed and valves R and M opened, thus causing all of the heat to be passed to the steam boiler. It Will be understood that the stand pipes which are filled with Water will, by conduction, assist in heating the Waters in the respective tanks with which they are connected.
By the provision of an apparatus embodying the features of my invention, it Will be noted that means is provided for supplying heated water to boilers and a hot water tank from a heating source, the arrangement of the heating apparatus being so constructed that the Water in a boiler may be heated from the top as Well as the bottom, thus expediting the generation of steam and affording a supply of hot Water for other than boiler purposes to be drawn from the tank not shown, but which is adapted to be connected by the pipes described.
l/Vhat I claim to be new is A gaseous liquid fuel heating apparatus, comprising tivo L-shaped tanks and a tank intermediate the same, a valved Water pipe connected to one of said L-shaped tanks and through Which a supply of Water is adapted to circulate, a pipe communicating between the ends of said L-shaped tanks, a. valved return Water pipe leading from the other of said L-shaped tanks, a valved supply pipe leading to the tank `intermediate the L- shaped tanks, valved exit pipe leading from the intermediate tank, valved communicating pipes intermediate the supply pipes leading to one of said L-shaped tanks and the intermediate tank, and a valved pipe communicating between the return pipes from the other of the said L-shaped tanks and the exit pipe from the intermediate tank.
