To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Emncu'r-BnoWN. a citizen of the United States, residing at Tulane, in the county of Tnlarc and State of California. have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wheel-Rings, of which the following is a specification, retcrenre being ha l to the arcmnpnnying drawlugs.
This in i'cntion relates to certain iinprm'm merits in wheel rims and has relation more particularly to a device of this general. char acter of a llHllJHllIllli'llll(- type designed for use in connection with inllatalile tires: and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and in'i 'n'oved device of this general character divided circnm'fel'cntially into two sections together with means whereby said sections may be readily and conveniently locked in assembled relation or can be easily separated when the requirements of practice necessitates.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved rim whereby certain important ad vantages are attained and the device is rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, all as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of the invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to de-- scribe the same with reference to the--accompanymg drawmgs, wherem- Figure 1 1s a transverse sectional view of a rim constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention;

As herein embodied, my improved rim is divided circumferentially into two sections 1 and-2 with one of'the sections of a Width materially in excess of the width of the second section, and the adjacent margins of said sections 1 and 2 are reduced to afford the tongues or extensions 3 which overlap when the sections are in assembled reiation and which results in the opposed fa es of the sections being. substantially flush.

A longitudinal margin of the arm 1 ad jacent the outer end of said arm is provided with an open slot 6 extending substantially transversely of the rim and adapted to receive the shank 7 of a headed stud 8 carried by the second or narrow section 2 and extending beyond the under or inner face thereof.
The opposite longitudinal marginal portion of the arm 4 at a in alinement with the slot 6 is provided with the recess or notch 9 adapted to receive the free end portion of the dog 10 pivotally engaged, as at 11, with the under surface of the section 2 adjacent the outer margin of said section and at a point intermediate the outer margin of said section 2 and the stud 8. .When the dog 10 is seated within the re cess 9 as indicated in Fig. 3, it will be orceived that the arm 4 1s securely hel in locked engagement with the stud 8. Inorder that the dog 10 may be readily forced out of engagement vvith the arm 4 it is to be noted that the recess 9 and the outer end of the dog 10 are arcuate in form and disposed on a curvature concentric to the pivot of the dog 10.
In practice it is only necessary in order 'to remove a the from the rim that the dog 10 of each of the fastening means be disengaged from the arm 4 whereupon the sections 1 and 2 may be readily separated after the arm 4 has been freed from the stud 8. This requires a minimum of labor and time and dispenses withthe use of tools other than a hammer or other implement capable of giving a striking blow. It will also be point substantially y self-evidcnt that a tire may be applied to the rim with equal facility and convenience.
From the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that a rim constructed in accordance withmy invention is of an extremely simple and comparatively inexpensive nature and is particularly -well adapted for use b reason of the convenience and it will also be obvious that m invention is susceptible of some change an modification without material departure from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself tothe precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carryin out my invention in practice, ex- 0 t as ereinafter claimed.
