To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, THOMAS MAHONEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dorran'ce, in the county of Russell and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Grain-Stacker, of which the following is a specification.
The device forming the subject matter of this application is a conveyer adapted to be used, primarily, in connection with a header, to facilitate the operation of stacking.
The invention aims to provide novel. means for moving the eonveyer vertically and transveis'ely, to provide novel means for moving the con'veyer' horizontally and longitudinally, and to provide novel means for shifting the conveyer tiflHSVG'ISG'lY and in a horizontal direction, longitudinally of the vehicle on which the c'onveyer is mounted.
lVith the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description pro ceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 shows in side elevation, a conveyer mechanism embodying the present invention;
Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the structure shown in Fig. 1.
In carrying out the present invention there is provided a vehicle embodying a main frame 1 equipped at its sides and near its ends with depending hangers 2 having outstanding axles 3 on which are journaled ground wheels 4. The numeral 5 designates an auxiliary frame mounted to slide horizontally in guides 6, constituting a part of the main frame 1.
Fixed to and depending from the main frame 1 intermediate the ends thereof arebearings 7 in which is journaled a shaft 8 rotated by means of a crank 9 or otherwise. Secured to the shaft 8 are drums 10. Sheaves 11 are journaled on the hangers 2. The endsof flexible elements 12 are connected with the auxiliary frame 5, the flexible elements being trained around the sheaves 11, and the intermediate portions of the flexible elements 12 being wound around the drums 10.

when the shaft is rotated by means of the crank 9, the flexible elements 12 will cause the auxiliary frame 5 to slide on the guides 6, longitudinally of the main frame 1.
Fixed to and upstanding from the auxiliary frame 5 at one side of the vehicle is a support l t. The numeral 15 designates a pair of inclined tracks connected as indicated at 38 with the support 14:, and con nected as indicated at 16 with the auxiliary frame 5. The tracks 15 act as brakes for the support 14:- The numeral 17 designates braces connected at their upper ends with the support 1% and connected at their lower ends with the auxiliary frame At 18 there appears a conveyer frame provided adjacent its lower end with brackets 19 supporting for rotation, grooved rollers 20 adapted to traverse the tracks 15. In termediate its ends, and at its sides, the conveyer frame 18 is equipped with guides,preferably in the form of rollers 21, engaging opposite edges of the braces 17.
Journaled in the lower end of the conveyer frame 18 is a drive shaft 22. The drive shaft 22 may be actuated in any desired way. In the present instance, a sprocket wheel 24 is secured to the shaft 22, and a chain 23 is trained around the sprocket wheel. Adjacent its upper end, the conveyer frame 18 is provided at its sides with bearings 25 in which is journaled a shaft 26 carrying idle sprocket wheels 27. Journaled in the upper end of the conveyor frame 18 is a shaft 28 provided with sprocket wheels 30. A conveyer belt 31 is trained around the sprocket wheels 30 and 32 and passes over the sprocket wheels 27. It will be obvious that the conveyer belt 31 may be actuated, to elevate the material, through the medium of the drive shaft 22.
Extended transversely of the support 14; and journaled thereon is a shaft 32 which in ay be actuated by means of a crank 38. Drums 34 are secured to the shaft 32. The lower ends of flexible elements 35 are connected with the drums 34, the flexible elements being extended upwardly over sheaves 36 mounted to rotate on the support 14 near to the upper end thereof. The flexible elements 35 are carried downwardly from the sheaves 36 and are secured as shown at 37 to the side portions of the conveyer frame 18.
From what has been explained hereinbefore, it will be gbvious that by rotating the shaft 8, the auxiliary frame 5, and the entire conveyer mechanism carried thereby,
' may be caused to move longitudinally of the main frame 1 of the vehicle. By manipulating the flexible elements 35 by means of the-shaft 32, the upper end of the conveyer frame 18 may be raised and lowered. When the conveyer frame 18 is raised and lowered, the guides 21 coacting with the inclined tracks 17, will cause the conveyer frame 18 to move transversely of the main frame 1 of the vehicle, the wheels 20 riding on the tracks 15.
Attention is directed to my copending application serial No. 101,37 6 for Letters Patent on a grain-stacking device, filed June 2, 1916. This present application serial No.
121,274 shows an improved form of stacker.
I shall, therefore, claim my invention as broadly as possible in application No. 121,274, which shows the improved form, and in my earlier application I shall claim such structural features as distinguish the machine shown in the earlier application from the machine shown in this application No. 121,274, the patent maturing out of application No. 121,274 being permitted to issue before the patent which results from application No. 101,376, or simultaneously therewith.
Having thus describedthe invention, what is claimed is:
In a device of the class described, a vehicle including a main frame; an auxiliary frame mounted to slide on the main frame, longitudinally of the main frame; means for sliding the auxiliary frame on the main frame longitudinally of the main frame; a
