Description

1.]. WARD.
' ONE HORSE PLOW STOCK.
APPLICATION nus!) ozc. 15. 1915'.
Patented Jul 17, 1917.
ATTORNEY.
JAMES J, WARD, OF ABBEVILLE, ALABAMA.
ONE-HORSE PLOW-STOCK.
Application filed December 15, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J AMES J WARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Abbe ville, in the county of Henry and State of Alabama, have invented a new and useful One-Horse Plow-Stock, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in one horse plow-stocks, where construction is of wood, iron, and steel. And the objects of my improvement are, first, to save time by quickness of adjustment, second, to add strength to the beam, by having as few holes in same as possible.
I attain these objects, by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a vertical section of the entire stock; Fig. 2, is a vertical section of a portion of said stock.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views. The beam g, has only one hole, from where the handles are attached to said beam 9, to the extreme end of same, which makes beam 9, very strong. The rearwardly and downwardly curved standard, composed of duplicate parts, is provided at its front ends with a yoke composed of integral, vertical arms embracing the beam, provided with bolts, cl, (Z, connecting the yoke at its upper and lower ends. A single pivot bolt 0, rearwardly of the yoke pivots the standard to the beam. The wedge shape block (4, provided with transverse grooves interposed between the upper bolt d, and the beam rests on plate It.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 1'7, 1917.
Serial No. 66,945.
Spring 6, is secured to the beam by clamp z, and having a rear end interposed between the lower bolt d, and the beam the tension of which holds the upper bolt oil, in either groove of the block a, in which it may be placed, by means of which plow can be adjusted to plow at varying depths.
I am aware that prior to my invention, one horse plow-stocks have been made of wood, iron, and steel, resembling stock in accompanying drawing.
I claim:
In a one horse plow stock, the combination of a beam with a rearwardly and downwardly curved standard, composed of duplicate parts, provided at its front ends with a yoke composed of integral, vertical arms embracing the beam, provided with bolts connecting the yoke at its upper and lower ends, a wedge shaped block provided with transverse grooves interposed between the upper bolt (Z, and the beam, a spring secured to the beam and having a rear end interposed between the lower bolt d, and the beam, the tension of which holds the upper bolt d, in either groove of the block, in which it may be placed, a single pivot bolt e, rearward of the yoke pivoting the standard to the beam, by means of which the standard can be adjusted to plow with scooters, scrapes and shovels at varying depths.
