STOVEPIPE-FASTENER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented time t9, 193.7.
Application led March 6, 1917. Serial No. 152,671.
To @ZZ whom t may concern:
Be it known that l, CARL A. Faonnsnn, citizen of the United States, residing at lirilson, in the county of Mississippi., State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements/ in Stovepipe-liasteners; and I do herehy declare the following to he a full7 clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to malle and use the saine. f
This invention relates to an improved means for retaining a stove pipe within a Hue opening and for securing the pipe collar', I
the wire ll one et' its ends is bent as shown in properposition.
The principal object of the invention is to provide means ot this character which is of an extremely siniple and inexpensive construction, and which may he quickly and conveniently applied for the purpose of securing a stove pipe and collar in proper position with respect to the flue opening.
With the ahove and other objects of sirnilar nature in view, the invention Consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts set -torth in and falling within the scope of the appended claim.
In the drawing: I
Figure l shows a transverse section through a stove pipe in position in a fine opening, with thecollar in position and the invention applied, and
Fig. 2 is a. section taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. l.
Referring now more particularly to the accompanying drawing, there is shown a portion` ot a wall. 5, suitably provided with a flue opening G. 4Reinovaloly engaged 4in the usual manner in the Hue opening is a stove pipe 7, providedl at diametricallyopposite points with apertures 8. A stove pipe collar of conventional type is engaged upon the pipe 7 'as is usual and is also provided at dianhietrically opposite points with apertures 9 alunng with the apertures 8 in the pipe. In order to retain the pipe Within the flue opening and the collar in proper position therein, there are driven into the wall 5 at opposite sides of the pipe` screw eyes l0, the eyes of which are disposed in alinenient with the apertures 8 and 9. A straight length of wire ll is then inserted through the screw eye l0 and through the alining apertures 8 and 9, the pipe and collar being in this manner securely held in place as is evident. To facilitate the insertion and removal of t0 provide a finger loop 12, while in order dtoprevent its accidental withdrawal, the opposite end thereof is lient at an angle close to the adjacent screw eye 1f).
t is evident from the foregoing that there has thus been provided a siinple and inexpensive means tor retaining a stove pipe and collar in proper relation to the flue opening7 and a means which may YFurthermore he applied with ease and convenience.
What l claim is: l
In combination an apertured wall, a pipe removably mounted therein and provided with diametrically opposite apertures, a collar surrounding the pipe provided with apertures alin'iug with the apertures in the pipe, eye forming members secured in the wall at opposite lsides of the pipe and in alinement with the apertures, and a retaining member passed through said alining eyes and apertures.
n testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
