A. J. YAKLICH.
MUSIC TURNER.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 5,1916.

ANTHONY J. YAKLICH, OF ST. PETER, MONTANA.
MUSIC-TURNER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 5, 1917.
Application filed June 5, 1916. Serial No. 101,824.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTHONY J. YAKLIOH, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Peter, in the county of Cascade, State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Music-Turners; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention is directed to improvements in music leaf turners, and has for its object to provide a device of this character which can be attached to the piano and operated by pedals to turn the leaf.
A further object of the invention is to provide a music leaf turner which is exceedingly simple in construction and one which can be operated by the player without necessitating the removal of the fingers from the keys.
With these and other objects in view this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a. front elevation of a piano showing the device in place thereon.
Fig. 2 is a rear view.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 3-3 of Fig. 2. v
Fig. 4 is a sectional view on line 44 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a detail view, partly in section showing the pivotal connection of the fork carrying arm.
Referring to the drawing 1 indicates a bracket which is secured to the back board 2 of the piano, said bracket being provided with a conical socket 3 for rotatably receiving the conical head 4 formed upon the lower end of the tube 5, said tube having fixed thereto a pulley 6 the purpose of which will appear later.
Having their inner ends pivotally connected to the bottom of the piano 1 are pedals 7 which have their outer ends extended so that the player can readily engage the same with the feet when it is desired to operate the device.
Adjustably connected to the tube 5 is a rod 8, the upper end of which terminates in a horizontal arm 9 which normally extends across the top of the piano and has pivotally connected to its forward end the arm 10, the lower end of which being provided with the fork 11, the tines of which receive therebetween the music leaf so that when the arm 10 is swung the leaf will slide between said tines.
Each pedal has connected thereto the outer ends of the cords 12, the inner ends of said cords being wound upon the pulley 6 in opposite directions and secured thereto in any suitable manner.
Fixed to the back board of the piano are plates 13, each plate having a horizontal arm 14 which has its rear end provided with an eye 15, said eye being engaged by the rod 8 and tube 5, which serve to hold the same steady.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that upon pressing upon one of the pedals that the tube 5 will rotate in one direction, and upon pressing on the other pedal the tube will rotate in the opposite direction, thereby turning the leaf which is engaged by the fork 11 in the desired direction.
What is claimed is A music leaf turner comprising a bracket to be connected to a piano, two pedals pivotally supported by the bottom of the piano, a bearing carried by the bracket, a tube having its lower end journaled in the bearing, a pulley fixed to the tube, two cords each having one of their ends connected to one of the pedals and their other ends wound in opposite directions on the pulley and secured thereto, a rod adjustably connected to the tube, a horizontal arm carried by the upper end of the rod, a second rod pivotally connected to the forward end of said arm and having a fork carried thereby for engaging a music leaf, said pedals being adapted for successive operation to turn the tube and thus the music leaf in opposite directions.
In testimony whereof, I alfix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
ANTHONY J. YAKLICH.
