ALCOHOL-LAMP.

Be it known that I, l/VILLIAM L. Lrocms, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fit. Louis, in the State of lvlissourhhave invented certain new and useful Improvements in .AlCOl'lOl-LtllnPS; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the inventiomsuch as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to new and useful iinprovei'nents in alcohol. lamps and one of its objects is the provision of a device of this character, which shall be simple, durable and efficient and which may be manufa :tured and sold a t a. comparatively, low cost.

A further object of this invention is the provision of means for supporting soldering irons, hair curling irons, etc, in a horizontal position so that the ends of the devices will extend into the flame to be heated.

With these and other objects in view as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

For a complete understanding of my in vention, reference is to be had to the f0llowing description and accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of an alcohol lamp, constructed in accordance with my invention, and

Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the device, illustrating the supporting arm in a folded position.

Referring in detail to the drawings, 1 indicates a body of the lamp, having a plurality of legs L- secured thereto and having their ends bent at right angles to provide feet 3 for supporting the body 1 of the lamp. The body 1 is provided with a circular opening in the top thereof and has a flange 45 extending around the opening which is internally screw-threaded to receive a lamp burner 5 of any well known type in which a wick tube 6 receives a Wick 7 and wick operating means 8. The burner may be readily detached and attached within the opening so that the body 1 may be filled with alcohol when desired.

directly over the burner, the bases having barrels formed on their sides to receive pinties which are secured to the top of the body in relatively spaced relation for permitting the arms to be folded in parallel relation to the top of the body and in slightly spaced relation therefrom to form handles for carrying the body from one point to another. The arms are each flared laterally in the direction of the free ends to provide heads adapted to prevent the grasp from slipping from the hands, when desiring to use either of the arms as handles when in upright position. lVhen using the arms as handles, when in upright position, the bases rest upon the top of the body, preventing the body from tipping in relation to the hand or handles.

While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is An alcohol lamp comprising a body, a burner located near one end of the body, and a pair of sheet metal arms, one end of each arm being bent to provide a right angled base having a hinged barrel on one side thereof, pintles passing through said barrels and secured in relatively spaced relation to the upper side of said body topermit said arms to be folded one upon the other in parallel relation to said top and to be supported by said bases in an upright position with relation to said top, the bases fully engaging said top below said pintles and each arm being located to one side of its pintle when the arms are in upright position so as to prevent the arms from accidentally falling into folded position, either of said arms When in upright position forming a handle, by which the lamp may be moved from place to place, and the side edges of said arms being flared laterally in the direction of the free ends to provide heads adapted to prevent the grasp from slipping through the hands, the upper edges of said arms being recessed to receive a 10 curling iron, and said bases supporting the arms when folded above said top so as to permit the folded arms to be used as a handle also.
