To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM GEORGE VAN- DEGRLFT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Harrisburg, in the county of Dauphin and State of Pennsylvania, have 1nvented a new and useful Card-Holder, of which the following is a specification.

The object of the invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive holder for advertising and other cards used in streetcars and other public places, the construction of the same being such as to facilitate its placement without material marring of the woodwork and capable of holding the display card in a convenient position for inspection by the observer.

Further objects and advantages of the invention will appear in the following description, it being understood that various changes in the construction and details of the illustrated embodiment of the same may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.

In the drawings Figure 1 is a view of the holder with a card engaged therein.

Fig. 2 is a similar View partly in section of the holder.

Fig. 3 is an end view thereof showing the pocket or seat for the corner of the card.

The holder consists essentially of a ta pered pocket or seat for the reception of the corner of the display card 10 or similar object, said pocket or seat consisting of a series of gradually increasing folds 11 and 12 of a wire preferably formed as an extension of a stem 13, said folds being flat but with the sides thereof spaced sufliciently to receive a card of the desired thickness, and the terminal fold is turned or coiled upon itself as shown at 14 and is arranged to intersect the plane of the pocket transversely to form a pin 15 adapted for engagement with an eyelet 16 which may be properly positioned in the card. The corner of the card may be seated in the pocket by inserting the same until the ends of the folds or loops 11 and 12 engage with the edges of the card, whereupon the release of the card and the resulting straightening of the same will engage the pin 15 with the eyelet and securely lock the card in place.

The stem 13 is preferably swiveled in an anchoring 17 which in the construction illustrated consists of a screw member 18 having a socket 19 in which a head 20 of said stem is arranged, a plug 21 being engaged with said socket to hold the head of the stem in place and being provided with a thumb head or wrench seat 22. s

The anchor may be suitably engaged with any convenient portion of the woodwork to position the card seat or pocket as may be desired, and the card may be readily inserted and removed to give place to another card, and may be turned with reference to the supporting or anchoring device to present it for inspection from any preferred point of view, the accidental displacement of the card from the holder being prevented by the construction of the pocket, supplemented by the restraining pin forming the extremity of the wire constituting the pocket.

What is claimed is 2- 1. A holder for the purpose described having an anchor or engaging device, a pocket or seat, a stem extending from the pocket or seat and swiveled in said anchoring device, said pocket or seat consisting of a blank of wire folded upon itself to form a series of fiat loops of consecutively increased length.

2. A holder for the purpose described having a pocket or seat formed of a blank of wire folded upon itself to produce flat loops of consecutively increased length, said blank terminating at one end in a stem and at the other end in a pin disposed transversely of the plane of said loops, and means for supporting the stem,in combination with a card provided with an eyelet for the reception of said terminal pin.
