Description
DANlEL C. TUCK.
Improvement in Safety Clasps for' Pockets.
No. 122,140. I Patented 000.26,]871.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DANIEL C. TUOK, OF FABMINGTON, MAINE.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 122,140, dated December 26, 1871.
SPECIFICATION.
I, DANIEL G. TU CK, of Farmin gton, in the county of Franklin and State of Maine, have invented certain Improvements in Safety-Clasps for Pockets, of which the following is a specification:
The object of my invention is to make a clasp or fastener which will prevent the Watch from falling out of the pocket or out from a ladys belt.
My invention consists of an improved safety-clasp for pockets, for holding the watch in the pocket or under a ladys belt, and for other purposes.
in a slot in the clasp proper A, and fastened by the pivot C so as to vibrate freely by the action of the slotted spring S or by pressing upon the projection D, the motion being indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 1.
In order to attach the clasp to the pocket the point of the hook B is raised, as in dotted lines, and clasp slipped on astride of the edge of the pocket or of the belt, when the spring is again allowed to press down the hook and thus securely seize the edge of the pocket. A ring or short chain may be used to attach the clasp to the watch. The hook may be made narrower at the end to receive the ring or ordinary hook of the watch, and the general form may be varied to suit the fancy. The clasp may be made wider and of any form to render the same ornamental; and the slot in front may be covered by an ornamental piece; or the slot may be in part omitted, so that the hook B will be mostly covered by the spring.
Having described my invention,
As a new article of manufacture I claim the abovedescribed safety-clasp forpockets, the same being constructed and operated substantially as set forth.
DANIEL O. TUGK.
