MOLD-FEEDER.

Application filed May 1'7, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Joznr KUKLA, a subject of Austria, residing at 118 Peter street, Buffalo, in the county of Erie, State of New York; have invented a new and useful Mold- Feeder, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in iron molding. The melted iron is poured at present through a mold feeder made of sand. My improvements are: The mold feeder is made of iron, it can be opened, and is composed of two halves. The accompanying drawings show the mechanism and working of the old feeder.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the feeder; Fig. 2 is a. plan view partly in section and Fi g. 3 is a vertical sectional view.
The halves A and P form the main body of the feeder. v
The mold feeder is composed of two halves A and B. On A, midway between top and bottom is a screw and on B opposite to the screw is a latch or fastener which fastens on screw on A. On the end of the latch, the latch bends over at right angles as shown by R. The moldor opens the mold feeder by pulling this up. D is the base. There is one bracket on each side and one on each side of the openin Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 3, 19.
Serial No. 98,209.
The upper and lower parts 1 and 2 show the upper and lower hinge elements respectively. Into their hole a pin 3 is inserted which is provided with a hole near its end into which a spring pin 4 is inserted thus forming a hinge complete, about which the two halves A and B swing. The upper and lower hinge elements 1 and 2 form part of A and B respectively.
C is a hole in the mold-feeder through which the molten metal passes into the mold.
What I claim as my invention is:
A downwardly converging frust0conical mold feeder having two equal and complementary sections hinged together adjacent two contacting edges, one of said halves having a latch and the other a projection near the engaging edges opposite said hinge, the latch being adapted to engage the projection to lock the halves together, the bottom of each half having a laterally projecting semiannular flange adapted to form a base for t is device, the halves being so shaped as to form when in operative position for pouring a downwardly tapering frusto-conical space open at top and bottom.
