UNITED STATES PATENT. ()FFICE.
PET ER J'. SWOFFORD, OF WELLINGTON, KANSAS.
GARMENT-HANGER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER J. SWOFFORD, a citizen of the United States, residing at lVellington, in the county of Sumner and State of Kansas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Garment-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
The invention. relates to a garment hanger, and more particularly to the class of combined coat hangers and trousers creasers or stretchers.
The preliminary object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character wherein a coat can be hung thereon so as to hold the same in shape and also the trousers stretched and creased, the device being novel in construction so that it-can be readily adjusted for the proper creasing or stretching of the trousers when supported thereon.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a. device of this character wherein the legs of the trousers can be readily placed in position thereon and the device adjusted to hold the trousers suspended and in stretched condition for removing wrinkles therefrom and also for creasing the trousers at the proper points in the legs.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which is extremely simple in construction, readily and easily adjusted, thoroughly reliable and efficient in its purpose, strong, durable and inexpensive in manufacture. I
Other objects will be in part obvious and in part hereinafter set forth.
The invention accordingly consists in th features of construction, combination of elementsand arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described, and the scopeof the application of which will be indicated in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a device constructed in accordance with the invention;
Fig. 2 is an edge elevation thereof;

hook 6 for the hanging thereof when supporting a coat. The trouser stretcher attachment comprises spaced pairs of arms 7 which are of the required length and each is beveled on opposite faces thereof to form a blunt tapered outer edge 8 throughout the length thereof. The pairs of arms 7 are supported upon pivots 9 passed therethrough and also through the piece 5 for swingingly connecting the arms thereto, while pivoted to the free ends of the arms 7 are spreading links 10 which are connected together through the medium of a pivot 11, the latter supporting binding disks or washers 12 which work against links to frictionally hold the same in adjusted position, and by opening and closing the links the arms 7 are moved away from and toward each other. These arms 7, together with the links 10, serve as stretching frames for the legs of trousers which, in the use of the stretchers, have their leg portions passed over the frame so that they will be confined within the same, and on the opening of the links 10 the blunt tapered edges of the arms 7 will crease the trousers and by the spreading action of the said arms the legs of the trousers will be stretched for removing wrinkles therefrom.
From the foregoing description, taken in A garment hanger including a shaped and disks arranged upon the pivots at the member, two sets of arms depending theremeeting ends of the links to frictionally en- 10 from, each set including a pair alined transgage the links to maintain them in any anversely of the member, thesaid arms being gular adjustment against the pressure of the 5 free of connection with each other except trousers on the arms.
through the member, and links pivotally In testimony whereof I affiX my signature. connected to each other and to the similar arms of each set on one side of the member, PETER J. SWOFFORD.
