To all whom it mat concern:
Be it known that I, HENRI 'TsorIERNINe,
a citizen of the United States, and resident of Freeport in'thecounty of Stephenson and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in SandlVIoldingApparatus, of which the following is a specification, reference being had there into the'accompanying'drawing.
In certain rock-oversand molding ap- 1 p'aratus it is common to place a'patternthe Vided with inclined arms which board and flaskupon a plate or table adapted to rest upon a jarringsupport; and to secure this plate to the "rock-over-"frame by which the filled flask is inverted. The table is secured'to the frame by devices which in one condition allow the plate and supported flask tobe vibrated vertically'or jarred as if free from thefframe and which in another condition bind the 'p'late firmly to the frame.

jarring device is a plate or table 10"which frame by a rigid bar-'12 the ends of which 1 are held between 'nuts 13"and the middle part of which isprovided above with an incl nedface 14E. Between the bolts of'ea'ch palrasmall power cylinder 15'is fixed to theframe with its piston rod 16 sliding in a bearing 17', and tothe piston rod is fixed a block 18 arranged to strike the inclined face flt and push the bar '12 aside, when the piston and'rod are forced in the proper directlon; thereby pulling the rods in their Ways "in;the' frame, and'drawing the table firmly v and practically locking against the latter thetwo together. That'the parts may be unlocked-when in position for jarring-and maybe automatically locked 'whenthey pass from that position, I provide a spring for holding the parts locked and provide for shifting to unlocked condition when the frame swings down to positionrfor jarring.
A convenient construction is illustrated,

It is evident that, from the operator, table and flask are from the swinging above set forth.

Obviously the invention is not limited to any specific air-valve arrangement nor to having the piston moved one way by a spring, nor to the exact construction in other details.
i What I claim is:
1. In sand jarring machines for molding the combination with a suitably mounted rock-over frame, of a normally horizontal pattern-supporting device secured to said frame by a series of vertical rods or bolts initially allowing free limited separation of the connected parts, a fluid pressure device for'acting upon. the bolts simultaneously to bind the pattern supporting devicerigidly to the frame, and meanswhereby the weight of the frame and its load holds saidfluid pressure device out of action while the parts are in position for jarring.
2. In sand molding apparatus, the combination with'jarring mechanism, of a rigid standard and a sand jarring device alongside the standard, a pattern plate and flask carrying frame pivoted to the standard to swing the plate and flask to and from position upon the jarring device, pneumatically operated means for locking said plate and frame rigidly together, and a gravity actuated member carried by the frame and hold ing said means out of action only while the frame is in jarring position.
3. In sand molding apparatus, the combolt-connecting bars, locking secured to the bination with a jarring mechanism and a standard alongside the same, of a rock-over frame adapted to swing a patternsupport and flask to and from position upon said jarring mechanism, pneumatic means for rigidly locking together the frame and pat tern support, a movable member controlling said means, mounted upon said frame in positiontdbe pressed against said standard by the weight of the frame when in jarring position and by consequent displacement to hold said means out of action, and a spring for restoring the displaced member to initial position. i
4. In sand molding apparatus, the combination with a rock-over frame, of a pattern and flush supporting member tied to the frame by 'a' series of bolts primarily allowing free limited separation of the frame and member, devices carried by the frame for applying wedge like force to said bolts to draw said member rigidly against the frame, means for applying pneumatic actuating powerto said devices, and means whereby gravity prevents the action ofsa'id power while the flask is in jarring position.
5. The combination with sand jarring devices and a standardalongside the same, of a rockover frame provided with a flask sup port and adaptedto carry a flask to and from thejarring devices, a series of vertical rods passing downward from said support through a portion of said frame, a bar con necting the lower portions of two of said rods and having an upper inclined surface, a block adapted to be pushed along said surface, a fluid pressure cylinder mounted on said frame and arranged to force said block along said surface while holding it against lateral displacement thereby for binding said support rigidly to said frame, and means whereby the block is kept from said surface while the parts are in position for jarring.
6. The combination with a sand jarring mechanism and a standard alongside the same, of a rockover frame pivoted to said standard, a flask support connected to the frame byvertical rods, bars on each side of the frame, respectively, connecting the lower ortions of the rods upon the corresponding sides, fluid pressure cylinders mounted on thesides, respectively, of the frame and arranged to force said bars laterally to pull the rods and thus bind the support to the frame, springs tending to hold the fluid pressure devicesin' operation, and means whereby the springs are prevented from acting so long as the parts are in jarring position.
' 7. The combination with a standard, of a rock-over frame pivoted to the standard to swing in a vertical plane, a table parallel to thelframe and capableof independent vibration, a compressed fluid cylinder mounted on the frame, a piston working inthe cylinder and having upon the exterior portion of its piston. of a-rock-over frame, a flask support normally located upon the upper face of said frame, a fluid pressure cylinder parallel to said support, secured to the opposite face of the frame and having on its rod a lateral projection, bolts extending from said supprojection,devices in the path shifts port to a plane below the frame, a bar-connecting adjacent bolts below the plane of the cylinder and having aface in and inclined to the path of said projection, 'a valve for admitting fluid to the cylinder to drive said projection along said face, means whereby swinging the frame to jarring position the valve causing reverse movement of the piston and a spring tending to keep the valve in its normal position.
