Be it known that I, CARL LovnLL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Osceola, in the county of Clarke and State of Iowa, have invented new and useful Improvements in ShoeShining Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

rihis invention relates to shoe shining apparatus.

An object of the invention is to provide a holder member for either a blacking brush or a polishing pad and to arrange the same whereby a pipe member, receiving a liquid blacking from a suitable reservoir, may be connected with the brush to feed a desired quantity of the liquid blacling to the brush.

With the above and other objects in view, the improvement resides in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts set forth in the following specification and falling within the scope of the appended claims.

The improvement is adapted to receive a supply of liquid blacking from a suitable reservoir or container. V

rlFhe holder member is broadly indicated by the numeral 12 and includes a pipe member 11 which has secured to one of its ends a flexible tube 10, and this tube is connected with a source of supply (not shown).

llhe pipe 11 is provided adjacent its free end with an integral thimble 13, the same being preferably of a. conical formation and having a seat for the plug 14 of a valve 15.

rihe thimble is provided with two angularly arranged branch pipes 16 and 17 respectively, and the valve plug 14 is provided with three communicating ports, which when' the liquid is to flow through the branch pipes 16 and 17 register with the pipe 11 as well as with the said branch pipes and when the valve is turned these ports are brought out of alinement with all ofthe said pipes. c

rlhe branch pipes 16 and 17 terminate in spaced parallel extensions 18 and 19 respectively,the said extensions being of course hollow and having one of their faces fiat, the said flat face is provided with a plurality of apertures 20.

The holder member' 12 is substantially U-shaped comprising a `plate provided with parallel sides 21 and 22. One of the sides has openings to receive the extensions 18 and 19 of the branch pipes 16 and 17 to permit of the said extensions resting upon the central portion or plate 23 of the holder member 12. One of the sides of the holder member 21, has a threaded aperture through which `is screwed the shank of a thumb nut 24 and which is adapted to Contact with one of the sides of the bach 25 of a brush member 26 to retain the brush in the holder. lt

. is, of course, to be understood that the ends 18 and 19 of the branch pipes may be secured to the holder if desired, and that the pipe section 11 is adapted to be employed as a handle for the holder.

rlhe back 25 of the brush 26 is provided with transverse depressions or channels 27 and 28 which enter from one of the sides of the back and which are adapted to receive the parallel ends 18 and 19 of the branch pipes 16 and 17, and the lower walls of these depressions 27 and 28 are provided with perforations 29 which communicate with the bristles of the brush. Transversely arranged channels 30 communicate with the perforations 29 in the depressed portions 27 and 28, and the brush is provided with ports or perforations 31 which communicate with the said channels so that the liquid from the source of supply may be fed to all of the `bristles of the brush. r1`he numeral 33 designates the polishing pad which is also secured to the holder 22 and which is employed for shining the shoes after the liquid the combination'7 of a Vconducting pipe having branch extensions which are perforated and a valve' for the pipe in the extensions thereof, a flanged holder receiving the perforated branch members of the pipe, a brush removably connected with the holder and having depressions to receive the branch pipes, said brush being provided with channels communicating with the said depressions and with apertures between the bristles of the brush and the said channels.V
