Lerares..
To all-whom it magneet/ernia Be. it known that we,- ALBERT and .EDWARD L; 'Ac/Knie, both .citizens of the' United States, vresidingat[San Pedro, in the county of Los Angeles and "State offCalifornia, have invented. :new and useful 1in-'Zr'v provements in Combined Tooth- Paste Squeezers and. Brush-Holders, of which theffol-lowing is a specification.`
This inventionrelates to acombined tooth `paste squeezer and brush holder, and pertains .especially to a tube holder provided with meansfor discharging dentifrice from a tube.
It is an object of a toilet appliance for holding tooth brushes, a dentifrice container, and for feeding the dentifrice to a brush.
It is another object of this invention to provide a dentifrice tube container holder .equipped with a squeezer adapted to force dentifrice from a collapsible dentifrice tube, and to provide the said squeezer with means makingit adjustable with respect to the tube.
An embodiment of our invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the holder. Fig. 2 is a side elevation'showing a dentifrice tube in osition, a brush upon the brush rest and the rush supported in the holder.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary section as seen on' the line 3--3 of Fig. 1.
In the drawing, 4 indicates the holder, 5 the squeezer mounted upon the holder, 6 the bracket for supporting the brushes, and 7 the brush rest bracket.
The holder comprises an upright 8 formed preferably of sheet metal having an 0E- setportion 9 adapted to be disposed against a and provided with an aperture 10 for.'. .the reception of a screw, nail or other i At the lower end of the olf-set portion is the forwardly extending brush rest bracket 7 having upstanding flanges 8 and 9 so that the brush may be readily positioned to receive the tooth-paste. rlhe upper portion of the upright 8 is off-set as indicated at 11, and provided with an aperture 12 for the reception of a screw or nail to secure the holder'lto the wall. Arms 13 and 14 extend outwardly and are provided with pairs of ears 15 and 16, and 17 and 18 forgripping the handles this invention to provide l 1 ofbru'shes. I Ears 15 and 18 maybe Couven-. (3'.Gr13Asov\t ientlyformed by turning the ends of the arms.-feufvvardly.` Ears y16 and 17 may be formed byslittinglithearms and turning the lip" formed forwardly. To;..provide means for s}1'pport1ng the lweight of'thetuhe andv POSltlOmlg*ltpebove the brush vrest a sup-U v p .oiviairig1- bracket 19 ,is conveniently formed by slit-ting` vthel middle of r-the .i holder and turning the lip formed.' outwardly. The lsupporting bracket 19 is formed'withgan' aperspcimen @f1-@easementratemeu aan..e,`ijem. Application inea August 2,1915. seriainaesma i' ture through which the neck of theftube.
may extend.
The squeezer is comprised of' a guide 2O having a Ibar 21 positioned to extend along the rear of the upright 8, and forwardly extending bearings 22l and 23 upon which is pivotally mounted the squeezer arm. Squeezer arm 2li is of bell crank form hav- A v ing a portion 25 extending to one side of the pivotal axis rounded and adapted to engage the dentifrice tube. A linger portion 2,6 is provided which extends outwardly and may be conveniently engaged by the nger.
A collapsible dentifrice tube 27 ispositioned upon the holder with the neck extending through the aperture in the supporting bracket 19. The closed end is positioned beneath the squeezer arm 25. The brushes are placed with the handles between the ears 15-16 and. 17-18. In using the appliance a brush is removed from the brush holding ears and disposed'with its back upon the brush rest '7 as indicated at 28. To discharge the dentifrice the nger end of the squeezer 26 islpressed downwardly, thereby squeezing the tube and forcing paste from the end, the paste dropping upon the brush. The paste only continues to discharge during the time pressure is applied to the squeezer.
It will be noted that we have provided a device which may bei conveniently made of l sheet metal. The holder proper is made from one piece of metal. The appliance may be conveniently installed on a wall and p-rovides all the means for holding the brush and dentifrice when the latter are not being used and also a convenient and sanitary means for feeding the dentifrice preparatory to cleaning the teeth.
What we claim is:
A dental toilet appliance, comprisin a standard having a laterally extendmg bracket portion for engaging a collapsible dentifrice tube adjacent its outlet and main-l taining said tu'be parallel and contiguous to sai standard a squeezer guide. member slidably mounted on said standard, and a 5 two-armed squeezer pivotallyv mounted on said squeezer guide member on| an axis in a plane parallel to the plane of said' standard, one arm of said squeezer adapted to rock .toward said standard, the other arm forming a finger hold. 10 In Witness that we claim the foregoing We have hereunto subscribed our names this 15th day of July, 1915.
