Description

K. BAUMMW.
BLOWER SYSTEM,
APPLICANON mw New, 2;2, w12.
same pressure, so that iftor any reason one blower or compressor tends to drop its load the turbine driving it will inlcreasc in speed and thereby increase the pressure of this blower, so that vit will again take its load. At the same tinie, the other turbine, being overloaded, will tend to/slow down and the pressure of its blower will tend to drop and so shift the load to tlie first named machine. Thus, the tendency is 'always for' the two blowers to divide the load in proportion vto their rated outputs.,
To insure safety, it is necessary that tbe valve operated ,by the emergency governor (not shown) should be placed between tbe equalizing pipe connection and the cylinder inlet.
I claim as my invention.:l
1. Eri/combination, a plurality et prima movers operating in parallel and means for insuring the equality ol" the tractienal outputs of the several prime movers, said ineens comprising a plurality of regulators and an equalizing pipe connecting tbe inlets of said prime movers. l
2. In combination, a plurality of prime movers operating in parallel and adapted to be actuated by fluid pressure, and means Jfor equalizing,` the pressures of tbe iuid supplied to tbe several prime movers, said means comprising a regulator for each of said prime movers and a pipe connecting the re= spcctive inlets of said prime movers.
3. ln combination, a plurality or' devices for supplying fluid under pressure to a coun.
mon main, a separate prime mover for actuating eacli oit said devices, and means for supplying motive fluid to each of said prime movers at equal pressures, said nica/ns coinprising a regulator for eacli of said prime movers and controlled b tbe pressure gen crated by the corresponding device, and means for equaliaing the pressures of tlie motive fluid between the regulators and the inlets of said prime movers. 4
4f. In ccrnbination, a plurality oligde'vices for supplyingl tluidunder pressure to la coinmon main, a separate prime mover for actun atingeach of said devices, and for maintaining; an equality between the outputs of the several. prime movers, said means comprising aregulator tor each of said prime movers controlled by the pressurev generated by tbe corresponding device and an equalizing pipe connected between tbe fluid inlets ot said prime movers.
In combination, a plurality of ceutri'liuh i gal pumps adapted to supply fluid under pressure to a common ina-in, a separate iuidoperated prime mover for actuating eacli pump, and means comprising an equaliain pipe connected between tbc fluid inlets of the said prime movers for maintaining an equality between the :fractional outputs of tbe several prime movers, said means being con naiofoac trolled by tbe pressures generated by the several pumps.
6. ln combination, a plurality of devices "for supplying Huid under pressure to a common main, a separate prime mover for each device, said prime movers being operated by fluid pressure, an equalizing pipe between the inlets oi the several prime movers, and a regulator for each of said prime movers, each of the said regulators being actuated by tbe pressure generated by its correspondino" prime mover.
f. ln combination, two centrifugal pumps or blowers adapted to supply Huid under pressure, a separate fluid pressure engine to actuate each pump or blower, an independent governing device for each engine, and an' equal-icing pipe connecting tbe fluid inlets of the two engines to insure the operation under equal pressures.
8. ln combination, a plurality ot' devices for supplying fluid under pressure, operating; in parallel,v a fluid pressure engine for each of said devices, a governor' for each 'engine controlled by tbe-pressure generated by its respective device, and a pipe connecteral prime movers for equalizing the pres' sures of the motive fluid..
19. ln combination, a plurality of devices for supplying fluid under pressure to a coininon rnain, branch pipes connecting said devices and said main, a separate prime mover actuated by tluid pressure operating eacli. of said devices, a regulator for each prime mover controlled by the pressure in its respective branch pipe, and a pipe con nccting the inlets of the several prime movers to equalize tbe pressures of the motive iiuid.
ll. in a blower system, a main pipe, e plurality of devices for supplying luid under pressure, branch pipesconnecting said main pipe and said devices, a duid pressure engine tor operating each or said devices, a regulator for each engine, said regulator be ing controlled by the pressure in its respective branch pipe, a pipe connecting tbe inlets ci tbe several engines between the regulator and tbe cylinder to equalize tbe pressures of' a safety device in each branch pipe, a steam 5 between the regulator and the cylinder.
13. In a blower system, two centrifugal blowers, a main pipe, a branch pipe connecting each blower with the main pipe, a safety valve in each branch pipe, a steam turbine 10 actuating each blower, a regulator for each turbine, controlled .by the pressure in its re spectve branch pipe, and a pipe connecting7 said turbines between the regulator ami the cylinder of each turbine to equalize the preesures of the steam-supplied.
In testimony whereof, l have hereunto subscribed my name this eighth day o' November, 1912.
