Be it known that I, CLEVIA J. LUTHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at IVasson, in the county of Salina and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Shovel, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to shovels such as used by coal miners or wherever large scoops or shovels are used.

Heretofore where large shovels or scoops have been employed, the dragging of a loaded shovel toward the user to enable him to lift it has not only been laborious but has also resulted in rapid wearing of the shovel;

One of the objects of the present invention is to provide a shovel having anti-friction devices connected thereto where they will not interfere with the using of the shovel upon a rough surface where rollers could not travel, but which rollers will operate as eificient means for supporting the shovel or scoop after it has been filled and while it is being drawn over a surface toward the user. v

A further object is to provide anti-friction devices which are inconspicuous and can be conveniently connected to shovels of the usual forms.

IVith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
