Description
E. RICKERT. INFANTSDIAPER. APPLICATION FILED MAY 27. ms.
"Patented Nov. 28, 1916.
" EMMA RICKERT, OF AURORA, ILLINOIS.
INFANTS DIAPER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 28, 1916.
Application filed May 27, 1916. Serial No. 1002352.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMMA RICKERT, a citizen of the United States, residin at Aurora, in the county of Kane and tate of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Infants Diapers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawmgs.
This invention relates to infants diapers and has for its primary object to rovide a device of this character preferab y constructed from knit material, which may be easily and quickly ap lied without necessitating the use of saf ty pins or like fasteners.
. tensions at each side 0 It is another object of the invention to provide an infants diaper of such construction that the same may be easily, uickly and securely applied and will afford a secure binder or support over the abdomen and hips. I
It is a more particular object of the invention to rovide a device for the above.
purpose having a tubular body portion provided with a central tab adapted to be drawn forwardly and upwardly between the limbs, additional relativel long tabs or exthe central tab adapted to be wound around the hips of the infant, and a single fastenin button to which the extremities of the ta s are adapted to be connected.
With the above and other objects in view, my invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,
Figure 1 is a front elevation showing the diaper applied: Fig. 2 is alrear elevation: and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the diaper.
-Referring in detail to the drawing, 5
designates the tubular body portion of the diaper which is preferably formed of knit material, and it will be understood that the" rib of the material may run vertically, horizontally, or diagonally on the bias, as may be desired. The rear side of the tubular body 5 is of appreciably reater length than the front portion thereof as will be apparent from reference to Fig. 3 of the drawing, and this rear portion is formed with a depending tab or extension 6 having a button hole 7 in its extremity. At opposite sides of this central tab 6, long narrow bands 8 are extended from the body 5, and each of these bands is also provided With a button hole 9 in its extremity. To the front side of the tubular body portion of the diaper, adjacent its upper edge, a button 10 is secured.
In the use of the device, the tubular body 5 of the diaper is slipped upward over the limbs of the infant to a position over the hips and abdomen. One of the bands 8 is engaged upon one thigh, being first drawn inwardly and then outwardly in an oblique line to the hip and passed around the back, the end portlon of the band being pulled over to the front and attached at its extremity to the button 10. The other band 5, in a like manner, is engaged upon the other thigh and passed in the opposite direction around the back and then forwardly,
.body.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, the construction, manner of use and severaladvantages of my invention will be clearly and fully understood. The diapers can, of
course, be manufactured in various. sizes,-
and may also be constructed of various other fabrics than knit material, as will be manifest. The invention is also susceptible of considerable variation in the form and proportion of its several detail features, and I, therefore, reserve the privilege of adopting all such legitimate changes as may be fairly embodied within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I desire to claim and secure by Letters Patent is 2- 1. An infants diaper constructed from a single piece of material and including a tubular body adapted to extend around the hips and abdomen of the infant, said body having a relatively long back portion and a tab depending therefrom, relatively long bands extending from the body portion at each side of the tab, a fastening element se-v L lar body having a relatively long back portion centrally provided with a depending tab and relatively long bands on opposite sides of said tab, said tab and bands being provided in their extremities with button holes, a single button secured to the front of the tubular body adjacent its upper edge,
the bands being adapted to be wound around the thighs and passed in opposite directions around the abdomen and connected at their extremities to said button, and said tab being adapted to be drawn up-,'
, wardly between the thighs of the infant and connected to said button. 1 4
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature inthe presence of two witnesses.
