TABLE, BOOK SHELF, AND LAMP SUPPORT. APPLICATION FILED MAR. 4. I916.
COMBINED ROTATABLE 1 ,203,81 Patented Nov. 7, 1916.
SAM'D. TRINKL, F HUNTINGTON, TEXAS.
COMBINED ROTATABLE TABLE, BOOK-SHELF, AND LAMP-SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. "2', 1916.
Application filed March 4, 1916. Serial No. 82,168.
. To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAM D. TRINKL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Huntington, in the county of Angelina and State of Texas, have'invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Rotatable Tables, Book-Shelves, and Lamp-Supports, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to tables, and particularly to revolving tables.
The object of the invention is to provide a revolving table which is of great convenience and wherein the various rotatable elements can be vertically adjusted so as to suit the convenience of the user.
Still another objectof the invention is to provide a table which may be readily taken apart for storage, packing or transportation, and which may be readily assembled.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a combined rotatable boo-k shelf, rotatable work basket, rotatable table top and lamp support.
Other objects will appear in the course of the following description.
' My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of an article of furniture constructed in accordance with my invention, the base being partly broken away; Fig. 2 is a section on the line 22 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a section on the line 33 of Fig. 1; Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4-4 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 5 is a section on the line 5-5 of Fig. 1.
Referringlto these figures, 1O designates a standard which may be of any suitable construction and may be tubular or solid, as desired. The lower end of the standard is formed with a square terminal end 11, adapted to fit in a square socket formed in a base 12, this base having four downwardly ex tending legs 13 and provided with casters 14. The base is provided with a set screw 15, whereby the standard may be locked to the base. The upper end of the standard is likewise squared, as at 16, see Fig. 5, for the support of a lamp supporting plate 17 whose under side is formed with a socket 18 having a square recess for the reception of the squared end of the standard 10. This socket 18 is held upon the standard 10 by Ineans'of a set screw 19.
Slidably mounted upon the standard 10,
table to be rotated.
below the lamp plate 17, is a rotatable table a set screw 24 which holds the collar in place in vertically adjusted position. This collar 23 supports the table and permits the The table 20 may be made of wood or metal, as preferred.
Surrounding the standard 10 is a sleeve 25 which is rotatable upon the standard and rests upon a collar 26 in turn held in position by means of a set screw 27. This sleeve carries a supporting flange 28 upon which rests the lower plate 29 of a set of book shelves, this lower plate being fastened to the flange 28 in any suitable manner, as by screws 30, see Fig. 3. The upper end'of the sleeve 25 supports a plate 31 forming the top of the book shelves and the bottom of a work basket 32, the reeds or rods forming the wall of the work basket being disposed in the openings 33, see Fig. 3, in the plate 31. Vertical rods 34 are disposed in "openings in the plates 29 and 31 and extend vertically downward so as to brace the two plates from each other and also form partitions.
With the construction above described it is obvious that the table top 20 may be adjusted vertically to any desired position upon the standard and when adjusted may be readily-rotated. It is also obvious that the book shelves may be adjusted vertically to any desired position and rotated. The lamp support 17 is not adjustable but it may be used not only for supporting lamps but for supporting vases of flowers or other articles which may be required.
It will be seen that my improved article of.
furniture provides a combination revolving book case, work basket, table and lamp or flower stand, that the revolving parts can be raised or lowered and set at any desired height and that the several elements of the table may be readily taken apart for packingor transportation. It is particularly suitable to invalids, as by revolving the book case, work basket or table 20, any desired article upon these elements may be brought into position for use. It may be used not only for invalids, but is equally convenient for students or in an office;
Having described the invention, what I claim is:
A table comprising a standard, a base to 10 plates, said braces constituting partitions forthe space between the plates, the upper plate being provided with an upwardly extending wall whereby the-upper plate may constitute the bottom of a work basket.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my 15 signature in the presence of two witnesses.
