To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ISABELLA CHnsNEY ROBINSON, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Fort William, in the District of Thunder Bay, in the Province of Ontario, and Dominion of Canada, have invented'new and useful Improvements in Collapsible Sanitary Washbowls, the following is a specification. V

This invention relates to improvementsin wash basins and has reference more particularly to a basin adapted to be readily folded 0r collapsed into a compact shape for the purpose'of transportation.

Although a basin as above defined is susceptible for use under a variety of conditions, the same is, however, designed more particularly for employment in cases pertaining to medical practices, outings, parties, camping, tours, public places, such as hotels and railway passenger cars.

With this end in view the invention consists in a sectional frame for the basin and a stand having detachable connection with the frame, whereby the former may be attached or detached from the latter as the occasion may so demand.

Another object of the invention is the provision of T-couplings for connection with the frame and stand respectively, the flexible container supported by the frame having a series of vent portions to permit the flexible container at its point of engagement with the heads of the T-couplings, to be brought over the couplings and thence atany preferred With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features, details of construction and combination of arts which will hereinafter be more fully set forth, illustrated in the accompanylng drawing and pointed out in the appended claims.

Figure 1 is a top plan view; Fig. 2 is a vertical section; Fig. 3 is a detail-view illustrating one of the ring sections of the frame engaged with the connecting means between the frame and stand and illustrating the means for connecting the stand with the connecting means for the frame; Fig. 1 is a top plan view; and Fig. 5 is a detail view of the basin illustrating the manner of forming the vents therein and attachment of the portions of the rubber forming the vents of the connection between the supof which porting stand and supporting-frame. Referring more specifically to the drawing, wherein like reference characters refer Y to corresponding parts in the several views, 5 denotes the basin which is in the form of a flexible container or bag 6 preferably formed of surgeons rubber, but it is, of course, understood that I do not limit myself 111 constructing the basin of such ma: terlal as the same may be formed from any other suitable material if found so desirable in the practical use of the invention. Around the upper edge of the basin or con tamer I provide a casing 7 of sulficient diameter to accommodate the mounting of the supporting frame to be presently described,

The casing 7 may be formed in any preferred manner, preferably by turning the upper edgeof the container over upon the outer surface thereof and cementing the same to such surface of the basin.

The suppor'ting'frame above referred to is designated by the reference character 8, and is formedfrom strands of, stout wire and is constructed of a plurality of sections 9, which for thezpurpose of illustration is shown as constituting four in number and each section bent in the arc of a circle Whereby when the sections are .in assembled form present the supporting frame of annular configuration. Interposed between the adjacent ends of each of the sections and disposed at opposite diametric points with respect to the supporting frame 8 are T-couplings 10, the head portion 11 of which havlng a smooth inner diameter for loosely receiving the adjacent or meeting ends 13 of the'respective sections 9. It will, of course, be understood that these sections are loosely inserted in the casing 7 of the container 6, whereby the same may be readily removed from the casing when it is desirous of collapsing the basin for shipping or storing purposes. The stem portion 14: of the T- coupling is likewise provided with a smooth internal diameter for loosely receiving the upper ends of a supporting stand 15 which comprises a plurality of stout legs 16 formed at their lower ends with angular foot portions 17 for firmly supporting the stand in set-up position. Each stem portion It is formed at a point medially of its length with a transverse opening 19, also formed in the upper extremity of the casing 7 is split at opposite diametric points to provide vents '21, the purpose of which is i to permit the casing being stretched over the head 11 of the T-couplings 10 when the basin is in a set-up position, the vents being retained in embraced relation With: the head of the T-couplings by cementing the rubber forming the'vents to the exterior surface of the basin as indicated by the character 22.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying draw ing, the advantages "of construction and of the method of operation will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art to which the invention relates, and While I have described the principles of operation of the device together With the device which I now consider'to be the best embodiment thereof, I desire to have it understood that the device shown is merely illustrative and that such modifications maybe made when desired as are Within the scope of the claims appended thereto.

I claim:

1. In a device of the class described, a supporting frame composed of a plurality of arc-shaped rings,'T-couplings connecting the adjacent ends of the rings, a flexible container supported on such rings, stay rods loosely mounted in the stem portions of said Copies of this patent may he obtained for five cents each, by addressing the T-couplings, and means passing through the said rods and through the stems of the couplings for detachably connecting the former with the latter.

In a device of the class described, a supporting frame composed of a plurality of arc-shaped rings, T-couplings connecting the adjacent ends of the rings, a flexible container supported by said rings, stay rods loosely mounted inthe stein portlons of said T-couplings and cotter pins passing through the stay rods and through the stems of the couplings for detachably connecting the former with the latter.

3; In a device of the class described, a supporting frame composed of a plurality of arc-shaped rings, T-couplings loosely receiving the adjacent ends of the rings for connecting the sections in annular form, a flexible container having its upper edge formed With a casing for loosely receiving the sections of the supporting frame, stay rods loosely mounted in the stem portions of said T-couplings and each provided with a transverse opening, means passing through the transverse apertures of the said rods and through the stems of the couplings for detachably and loosely connecting the former with the latter.
