W, NABUSZEWICZ.
SWIMMING QLOVE. AvrucATlo'rs msu ocr. ams.

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WLADYSLAW NARUSZEWICZ, OF NORTH ANDOVECR, MASSACHUSETTS.
SWIMMING-GLOVE.
Application led October 5, 1918.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, WLADYsLAw NARU- szEWIoz, a citizen of Russia, residing at North Andover, county of EsseX, and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Swimming- Gloves, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in devices for assisting in the propulsion of swimmers, and has as its special object the provision of a device which is readily attached to the extended ngersv and hands of the operator in such manner as to form a web-like structure whereby propulsion in the water is easily effected.
A still further object is to provide such devices having reinforcing elements at their outer extended edges so as to hold the web in a substantially rigid manner.
These and other like objects are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawings, forming a material part of this disclosure and in which- Figure l is a transverse sectional view taken on line 4.-4 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 5-5 of Fig. l, and
Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing one of the web elements and indicating the manner in which it may Ibe attached to the operators hand.
copies of this patent may be obtained for ve cents each, by addressing the Commissioner oi' Patent|, w
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 1, 1919.
Serial No. 256,980.
Fastened upon one side of the element 22, are rings, respectively 28 and 29, the former being adapted to engage with the thumb, while the latter may be placed upon the little finger, thereby securing the web in an effective manner to the hand.
In order to strengthen and reinforce the outer edge of the flexiblematerial, the same is rolled upon itself as at 30, and inclosed at one end within the tubular reinforcement 30, is a curved tube 31, while at the other end is secured a similarly curved rod 32, slidable within the tube 31 telescopically, thereby permitting the web to be collapsed and closely folded so as to enter the pocket or envelop 2O when not required in use.
Having thus described my invention and set forth the manner of its application and use what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a swimming device, the combination with a segmental shaped web, means for securing said web, at the smaller end thereof, rings fastened upon said web along its lateral edges, a turned edge at the larger end of said web, a tube secured at one end within said edge, and a rod secured at the other end, said rod being enterable within said tube whereby said web may be collapsed.
In testimony whereof I have aiiiXed my signature.
