' To all to h-om it may concern Be it known that I, HUGH ROBERT Br NUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Clarkesdale, Coahoina county, and State of Mississippi, have invented and discovered certain new and useful Improvements in Gas Burners and Decarbonizers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to heat generators and more particularly to that class in which oil is used as the gas producing element.
One object of the invention is to provide a decarbonizing system which will prevent a deposit from accumulating within the tube of the burner. Another object being to construct a burner that will vaporize a hydrocarbon to the proper degree for combustion and mix with it, when at its highest temperature, a decarbonizing fluid. With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of a combination of parts clearly described in the specification and particularly pointed out in the appended claim, reference being had to the accompanying drawing in wh ch like characters represent similar parts in the views of which,

The numeral 5 represents the base of the device which is rectangular in form and provided adjacent its four corners with extensions 6 forming feet or supports. The upper face of the base 5 is hollowed out as at 7 to provide a well or receptacle to be explained later. Centrally located at one end of the base is a threaded extension 8 which receives the lower end of a support 9 having secured to its upper end a T connection 10 which supports and retains the burner tube 11. This tube 11 is preferably formed of one piece comprising a horizontal portion 12 on which is adjustably secured a spreader 13, a vertical portion 14 and the lower horizontal portion 15 which is closed at its end bv a cap 16 and which is provided midway with a vertically arranged opening 17 which is positioned directly beneath the center of the spreader 13. Threaded onto the portion 12 of the burner tube is an adjusting nut 18 which is used in connection with a reducing connection 19 to clamp the burner tube 11 in the T connection 10. 'ihreaded. into th reduced portion of the connection. 19 is a member 20 provided with a depending extension 21 to which is con' nected the oil supply pipe 22 which leads from any suitable tank. Formed on the member 20 and in axial alinement with the portion 12 of the burner tube 11 is another extension 241 into which is secured a pipe 25 leading from a receptacle containing any well known decarbonizing fluid e. g. kerosene or grain alcohol. This pipe 25 extends through the connections 20 and 19 and into the pipe 12 to a distance immediately over the opening 17 of the pipe port on 15 which position is at the point in which the heat generated is most intense. As a means of providing a greater heating surface for the oil to be vaporized, several small metal rods or wires 26 are positioned within the portion 12 of the burner tube.
In the operation of the device a free burning oil is placed in the well 7 of the base 5 and ignited which heats the pipes 15 and 12 and the wires 26 to such a temperature that when the oil is permitted to How from the pine 22 through the several connect ons, it will become vaporized in the pipe 12. pass down the pipe 14, through the pipe 15, and through the opening 17 where it mixes with the atmosphere and ignites against the spreader 13.
It is to be understood that both pipes 22 and 25 are to be valve controlled so as to regulate the flow of the materials therein. It is also to be understood that changes may be made in the form and proport ons shown without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
Having thus fully described my said invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
The combination with a hydro-carbon burner comprising a pipe having a portion providing a burner and a portion disposed adjacent said burner to be heated by the flame therefrom to vaporize the fuel, of a pipe entering the vaporizing pipe portion for introducing a decarbonizing fluid into the vaporizer and discharging the same therein at the point of highest temperature,
