IMPROVEMENT IN PEA-NUT AND COFFEE POLISHERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 128,515, dated July 2, 1872 antedated June 15, 1872.
Specification describing certain Improvements in Pea-Nut and Coffee Polishers, invented by BENJAMIN F. WALTERS, of Norfolk, in the county of Norfolk and State of Virginia.
The invention will first be fully described in connection with the drawing and all that is necessary to a full understanding thereof, and subsequently pointed out in the claim.
Figure 1 is a front elevation, and Fig. 2 a section across the cylinders.
The casingis formed of two parts, A B. The top part A is slotted at a, and provided with hooks a} a and hopper a which has a sliding bottom, a. The bottom B is recessed at b, has concave (3, covered with brush 0, and is also provided with studs 1) b for the hooks. D is a cylinder or roll, provided with an annular brush, (1, and a crank-shaft, d.
The mode of operation is as follows: The cylinder is rotated to the right, and the peanuts or cofi'ce-berries poured into hopper a from whence they descend upon the annular and rotating brush. They are then carried to the right side of the box, to one end of the concave, from thence around and between the brushes I to the top of said concave, and are then thrown upon the inclined bottom of slot 1), which conducts them to the outside.
