To all whom t may concern.'
. Be it known that I, EDWARD DRUEssEL, a citizen of the United States, residin at Troy, rin the county of Madison and tate ofV Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Adjustable Running-Gear Frame, of which the` following is a specification.
MyV inventionY relates to an adjustable running-f ear` frame for wheel supported apparatus, and hasA for its object to provide an adjustable wheelsupported frame capable of being. easily andquickly shortened or lengthened more particularly to enable an endless or laced belt to be easily and quickly tiglhtened or adjusted without stopping the be t.
A further object of the invention is to providel anadjustable frame which will be simple in construction, strong, capable of being quickly adjusted, and highly eliicient in its operations, and one which is adapted to support an internal combustion engine or other source of motive power, and suitable apparatus or mechanism to be driven there-- by. The-motive power is adapted to be positioned upon onesection of the frame, while the device or mechanism to be driven thereby is adapted to be positioned upon another section of the frame.
`With the aboveand other objects in view, the invention consists in certain new and novel features of construction, arrangements andcornbination of parts, as will be more fully described hereinafter and {inally pointed out in the laim hereto appended.

Figure 1, is a plan view of my wheel supported', adjustable frame and apparatus, the frame beingconstructed in accordance with myl invention, and the engine mounted upon one vsectionof the frame being broken away with the exception .of a portion of the iiywheel and the belt .pulley fixed thereto.

Referring to' the drawings, the reference character 1 designates the movable front axle; 2, the wheels therefor; 3, the rear axle; 4, the wheel therefor; 5, a suitable internal combustion engine, or its equivalent; 6, the belt pulley thereof; 7, a driven power shaft;
8, a belt pulley fixed thereto; and, 9, a circular saw fixed to the shaft 7.
` In carrying out the aim of my present invention, I employ a telescopic wheel-supported frame constructed as follows:
The frame consists of two sections, the outer section A, and the innersection B.
Thev outer section` A consists of the two side sills 10. The two side sills 10 are supported at their rear ends by means of the rear axle 3, which axle is suitably fixed to the underface of each side sill 10. To further unite the two side sills 10, I use the two cross-pieces 11 and `12 which are suitably fixed at each end to. the upper face of the side sills 10, as clearly shown in Figs. l and 2. The two lcross- pieces 11 and 12 are united at eachend by means of the cross-pieces 13 upon which are fixed the bearings 14 for supporting the power shaft 7. ,The front end of dinal slotted opening 15, the object of which will be clear hereinafter.
The inner section B of the frame consists of two side sills 16. These two side sills 16 are united at each end by means of the end cross-pieces 17. The two side sills 16 are supported at their forward ends by means of the front axle 1, which axle is pivoted, as at 18, to the underface of the forward crosspieces 17. The rear ends of the sills 16 are supported upon the rear axle 3 and are held from` upward movement by means v of the cross-pieces 11 and 12 which engage the upper faces of the side sills 16.
A cross-piece 19 is suitably fixed to the underfaceA ofeach inner sill 16, as clearly shown in Figs. 2 and. This cross-piece 19 projects beyond the side face of each sill 16, as at 20, thereby forming a support for the front ends ofv each outer side sill 10. The cross-piece 19 is further provided at each end with the upwardly projectngears 21 adapted to engage the outer side face of each outer sill 10.
A supporting pin 22 is fixed to each inner each side sill 10 is provided with a longitusill 16 and is adapted to pass through the slotted openings l5 of the outer sills 10, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2. These pins and slotted openings serve to hold the two sections 'A and B in alinement, and, further, prevent extreme longitudinal movement 1n either direction.
Suitably fixedto' the upper facey ofeach inner sill 16, of section B, is a cross-piece 23 which has its ends 24 projecting over thev topfface of each of the side sills 10 of the outer-'sectiona/X, asfclearly shownin Figs. l
