Be it known that I, ALEXANDER EKLUND,

a citizen of the United States, residing at Attleboro, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bracelets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in a bracelet and particularly to a wrist watch bracelet, and 1t resides in a wrist encircling band .formed with a ,pair of' channeled strips whlch are coiled one upon the other in interlocking relation to permit of limited expansion and ready iexibility.

The invention further resides in the features of construction hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing wherein- Figure 1 is an edge eievation of the im? proved bracelet, illustrating in dotted lines a watch frame to which the ends of the bracelet are hooked.

Fig. 2 is a plan view of one end portion of the bracelet in its normally contracted form.

Reerring more in detail to the drawing, the bracelet is composed of two strips 1 and 2 that are coiled one about the other, each strip being channeled or U-sectioned and thereby forming marginal parallel flanges or projections 3. The inner coiled strip 2 is wound with its marginal flanges on the outside, or so as to extend outwardly, while the outer-strip 1 is wound with its flanges 3 within the coils, or so as to project 1nwardly. The coils of the outer member are staggered relative to those of the inner member, each outer coil being arranged over the abutting edges of two adjacent inner coils so that its inwardly extending flanges 3 will enter channels of the two inner coils and interlock therewith. Either set of coils will', therefore, have its degree of elasticity or stretching limited by the flanges of one coiled member engaging the flanges of the encircling coiled member.

By having the outer coiled member wound so that its anges are interiorly disposed, the outside surface is left smooth so as to afford comfort to the wearer.

The coils are flat so as to produce a bandlike appearance and to lie flat on the wrist. These flattened coils also restrict the flexibility edgewise of the band while the flexibleness broadwise is increased to more easily conform to the wrist.

Attaching hooks l have their shank portions inserted in the ends of the coiled members and soldered or otherwise secured thereto, said hooks providing 'a means for 'detachably connecting either end to a watch frame 5.

In applying the bracelet, the flat bandlike body is passed about the wrist and hooked to the watch frame or case. smooth exterior of the band docs not scratch or injure the wearer. The band readily expands or extends and contracts without Presenting any cracks or open spaces to olset its otherwise neat appearance. i l

.Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. A bracelet band composed of flat elongated coils formed by the winding of a pair of iat channel strips one upon the other with the inwardly projecting side ianges of each outer coil straddling the joint between two adjacent inner coils and engaging in their channels on opposite sides of their abutting .flanges to interlock therewith and thereby limit the extension of the band during its iexing movements, and an attachin hook inserted in each opened end of the ban and formed with a flat bill extending back over and in proximity to the flat band.
