Broadly stated, this supporting device comprisesgtwo frames which are pivoted tol gether at their outer ends, one designed to fit snugly within the othcriwhenltlie device is in foldedconditionso as to occupy very little space. As will be noted more particularly troni Fig. 3 ol the drawings, the upper und portion ol' the bracingV bar l is turned upward and inward at an obtuse angle to provide a supporting arni 18 at` the upper end thereof which projects above har i ol traine A when brace bar 4 is in operative position, the arln 18 beingr disposed approximately vertical. The brace arnt 5 is provided, at its upper end, with a similar supportingarm 1i)` These two arnis art' connected by the spared slats 2() and the bractl bar 'il secured thereto. When the rods are in their outermost 4position they provide racks upon which may behang the cloths used in washing and wipingithe window panes. W'hen the rods are in their innermost position, the fingers 26 are in engagement with the ends of the upv per Slat 20 and thus act` to positively limit the inward movement of the rods, the out,- ward movement oi' which is liuiitetl by the blocks 24 as will be understood.

A downwardly directed securing hook 27 secured to the inner end of each of the end bars of the main supporting frame A. These Ahooks are adapted to engage about the inner edgeportion of the window sill or bar 28. Whenthe hooks are thus engaged about the ,windowflian the inclined bracing hars 4 and ','jfengage the' outer surface oi the wall 2) ofthe building, lthe nntin support ing; l'ratne `b'eing thus rigidly maintained in horizontal position. To acconnnot'h-.te walls of different thicknesses the end bars of the main frame A and the lbrace frame B arc providedwith a series of spaced apertures for receiving the bolts which secure the end of 'the foldable braces, as more clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. By this arrangel ,mend-the angle of the bars 4 and 5 ol the 'Qeple of this .patent may be obtained for Iii-acc frame to the bars 1 and 2 of the main traine, when in operative position, may be varied slightly, as will be evident. In the event that the window casing is not provided with the usual sill or bar 28, a rod 250 ol any suitable material may be placed across the window casing so as to be engaged by the hooks 27, this bar serving in this manner to secure the inner end of the main supporting platform A.

While I have described this device as used more particularly for washing windows, it will be evident that it may be used for many other purposes, such as ashelf for supporting food studs which it is desired to keep cool, a support for flower boXes,or similar articles, et c. lVhen not` used 'for cleaning windows, it may bc readily folded so :1s to occupy butlittltl space and can be easily transliorted from one window to another. When thusA folded, the device is free from all projections, and the braces for securing the supportingr frame to the bracing frame are completely' inclosed so as to be protected from injury. There may be slight changes inade in the construction and arrangement of the different parts of my invention without departing from the eld and scope of the same and I intend to include all such variations, as fall within the scope of the appended claim, in this application in which a preferred forni only of my invention is disclosed.

llVhat I claim is:

In a device of the character described, a niain supporting frame, a bracing frame having its end bars pivotally secured intermediate their ends to the outer ends ofthe end bars of the inain frame, the end bals oi the bracing frame having their upper end portions angularly disposed so as to provide vertical supporting armswhen the bracing frame is in operative position, foldable braces conneetin the two said frames, slats secured to the said vertical supporting arms of the end bars of the bracing frame so as to form therewith a guard at the outer .end of said main supporting frame, and menibers slidably mounted between said slats adapted, when in extended position, to support cloths hung thereon so as to be readily accessible to a person using the device.
