DEVICE FOR TEETHING INFANTS.
This invention relates to improvement in a device for teething infants and lts objects arei First: to so provide and construct a device for teething infants, of pliable rubber, adaptable to the infants mouth and one that the infant cannot swallow.
Second: to so construct a pliable rubber device that, regardless of how the infant takes hold of the device, there is always an end for him to bite on.
Third: to so construct a device for teething infants that will have a plurality of projections for the infant to bite on, and one that will not readily roll out of the nfants reach.
A still further object of my invention is generally to improve this class of devices, so as to increase their utility, durability and efficiency.
With these and other objectsin view, my invention will be more fully described and illustrated in the accompanying drawin and then more specically pointed out in t e claim which is attached to and forms a part of this application.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a perspective view of my device for teething infants.
Fig. 2 is a plan View of my device for teething infants.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views of drawings by the same reference numerals.`
My improved device for teething infants, forming the subject matter of the present Slieccation of Letters Patent.
Patented June d, 1918.
Application led January 28, 1918. Serial 'o. 214,200.
invention comprises a device made of pliable rubber, having a plurality of projections 1, adapted to enter the infants mouth and to be grasped by the infants hands; the pro- 'ections l are integral, one with the other y being cast or produced from a solid piece of rubber of the required resiliency, and are of a size and length suitable. The outer ends of these projections 1 are convex in shape as at 2.
The operation of my device is follows- The infant grasps the device and inserts any one of the projections in its mouth tov bite or chew on, the other projections preventing the device from entering the mouth too far, said projections being easily grasped by the infants hands.
The plurality of projections being so ar-V ranged, the device will not easily roll out of the infants reach. j
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by vA device of the character described, made of pliable rubber of the required resiliency, consisting of a plurality of projections, cylindrical in shape, the outer ends of which are convex in contour; the inner vends of these projections being integral, one with the other; each projection being diametrically opposite another projection, and all projections extending from a common -center, in a plurality of planes, as the radii of a sphere, any 'one of these projections being adapted to enter the infants mouth or to be grasped by the infants hands, as and for the purpose described. j
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
