a citizen of the United States, residin` at Center, in the county of Jackson and tate of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ditching Attachment for Turning-Flows; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in ditching attachments for plows of the class that are adapted to be used in connection with land attached to ordinary turning-1 plows.
The objects of my invention are, 1st, to provide a device of the class described that can be used in digging ditches; 2nd, that may be used for cleaning old ditches; 3rd, that can be used for throwing up small levees; 4th, that can be readily attached to any ordinary turning-plow by using a specially constructed plow handle; 5th, that will dig a ditch the sides of which will be vertical so that the ditch will occupy the least. amount of space possible; andth, that will be easily operated, with a minimum amount of draft power, and reasonably cheap of manufacture.
My improved ditching attachment is especially adapted for use in digging deep and narrow ditches and is designed so that the ditch may be no wider at the top than at the bottom. It is adapted for use in preparing and cleaning any ditch and is designed to save much time and labor. On all farms ditches of various lengths, widths and depths are necessary. To construct ditches by means of an ordinary plow to break up the soil, and by means of the shovel to lift the soil out of the ditch, would require a vast amount of time and labor. The foregoing -statement is made in order that the work to which my invention is adapted may be understood and the advantages arising from its use may be more readily apparent.

Attached to the spokes 2 is a solid flange 3. The conveyers 4 are rigidly fastened to the rim 1 and fiange 3.
Earth turned by the plow 6 falls on the rim 1 and is' carried by the conveyers 4 through the chute 5, dropped onto the trough 7 and thence to the side of the ditch.
The wheel turns on an axle 8 which is bent and bolted at 9 to an ordinary plowstock. Free vertical motion is allowed the wheel by the axle 8 being free to move vertically in a slot between a strap 10 which is fastened to a block 11 which in turn is bolted by the clamp 12 to the plow-stock. The trough 7 is held in place by'a strap 13 which is fastened to the block 11.
The chute 5 is held rigid by braces 14 to the axle 8. 15 are special handles attached in place of the usual handles.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
l. A ditching attachment for turning plows comprising an axle having its rear end formed with a right angular extension and its forward end pivoted to the plow stock whereby the rear end can have free vertical movement, a vertically disposed wheel jourof the axle carried by the plow stock, a vertically disposed wheel journaled on said axle extension, a semi-circular chute supported concentrically within the rear portion of the wheel, conveyers carried by the wheel rim and adapted to revolve through said chute, and a trough disposed below and laterally of the upper end of the chute.
