OF NEW YoRK, 'N. Y., AssIe oR'ro I. K-KLEINERT RUBBER FCiIJDIliTiQLCARRYIlVQCASE, v v 1 fl '0 all whomz't may concern: Be it known tliatl-l, DAVID Basel-I a citizen of the'United'States of America, and a resident of "New York, Bronx county, and State 1 of N en" York, have invented} certain 'neW' a-nd useful "Improvements in Folding Carrying-Cases,"offivhich the followingv isa A 'specificatioin reference'being h'ad'to the acconipanying drawings thereof; ,7 j My invention relates to improvements in folding" carrying cases for toilet-articles -tools or the likei" Its Vobjectis to provide a siinplezand effective case of -this 'kindin ivhich' the Various *articlfesto be packed thereiirmay be readily held in position.
Another object is to provide-asimple I forniing a I part means. by Which such articlesmay 'be se ljveniently "arranged and to make a Icase cured in place and readily detached when desired. 1
Astill' further object is to provide such ease with-a plurality of'compartnlents con- Which when folded, thoroughly protects the articles withinnit.
In order that inyinvention may be tliorough'lyunderstood, I-Will noW"proceed to describe the .sain'ejinthefollowing s ecification; and then point out the novel' thereof in appended 'clain1s.
Referring tothedrawings; Figure 1 is alplan View or afcarryingease eatures which embodies my inyentiong'the i ca'se' being shoWnpa-rtly unfoldech v A """Fig 2 is asimilar view of the central portion of the sainerase w' ithfits cent ral articleholding flap swungdoi naivay from the pockets which its coyers when the as'e'is Fig. 3 is .a s'ect ional side eleyatioii iii the case of Fig. '1, the sectlonbeing taken on the irregular line 3+3 of the latter figure:
'Figsl v l' and 5 are sectional end. eley'ations of the same devicefthe' sections being taken on the lines 4: l and 5-5 of Fig. 1 respectively;
Like characters of referencedesigimte corresponding parts in all the figures.
The case shown in the drawings iscon-' structed with a back 10 of suitable fabric, preferably waterproofed, which forms the outside of the case when it is folded. Three sides of another layer 11 of the same or similar material are sewed to the sides and one end of this back to form a pocket open Specification of Letters Patent; 1 i Application filed October 26, l9l6 ."'SerialNo. 127 ,7521": g
"long'itudinal edges to thepart'll in position to lie longitudinally across the center thereof; This holding stripis provide'd 'ivith {two rows -of a like "number of I equallyi spahed anti-friction eyelets 21. Anela'st'ic cord 221s threaded over and un'derfthe'strip 20 through these eyelets with its ends fastened-as at 23; This is so, 'arrangedjthat the pa-rt ofj the elastic cord which is; a'boyef thefsurfa'ce of the holding strip will form 'a 'pl l1 !lit y}of pairs of parallel holding loop's'24, the I loops of each pair ibeing' transversely 'foppos'ite eachjother.'-
A t 'the' edges of the "back 10 opposite *the holdii'ig strip 20 are *se'wed' "cover flaps 16 which, when folded,-come up toithe'adjacent edges of-the holdingstrip.
This arrangement 'is such that When'fany desiredi article is slipped under pair of the loops 24, it Willfb'e secured thereby onac; count-bf theelastic'ity of the cord Itis obvious that the "article may have parallel sides as a comby25, or be of irregi'ilar shape as'a hairbrush'26. f
Two 'otl'ier "transverse" pockets 30 30 are similarly forined' across theintermediate part of the jba'cklO, each With a cover, fl'ap 3l"31,- and SIlELP buttons- 32; A supporting H'iember 33 of a length. corresponding "with the "width or the jba'ckf" 10, is 'sew'ed'to one edge o iitheback, as at. 34. This is provided with snap buttons 35 by In'eans of'w'hich its other edgejmay be secured to the back .p'orsea- 10 nearhe other. edge thereof, to hold the supporting I rn emher over the pockets'l e042'0 isiapositim substantially parallel with thebackf' Two 1011 tudinal holdin strips, 36am secured to t e holdinglnein e'r 33' and each one end which may be tied together as shown at 39 after desired articles have been placed under the pairs of parallel holding loops, to secure such articles in place.
The holding member is continued transversely beyond the edges of the back 10 or other pieces connected With it at the parts thereof corresponding with the edges of the back, to form overlapping flaps l0 and 4L1 which may be folded over the articles Which are under the laces 38 and held in folded position by a snap button 42.
It may be seen that all such articles as may be secured in place in this case Will lie transversely so that after it has been filled it may be folded or rolled up and a strap-43 is provided at one of its ends-and a buckle 44 at its other end to fasten it in its rolled up condition. The strap 43 is provided with a large eyelet 45 so that when the case is unrolled it may be hung up on wall or dresser, or other convenient place.
This case is designed primarily for carrying toilet articles, but it is equally Well adapted for carrying tools or'any other desired articles. It is of course capable of structural modifications, and I in fact intend no limitations other, than those imposed in the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. .A'folding carrying case comprising a flexible back, members of similar material aflixed thereto intermediate its length to form transverse pockets, a holding member afiixed to one edg of said back, and means for detachably securing the opposite end thereof to the back near its other edge, said holding member when thus secured lying over and covering said pockets, a holding strip secured to said holding member and disposed in longitudinal relation to the back, a pair of rows of antifriction eyelets in said holding strip, and a flexible cord laced through said eyelets to form a plurality of pairs of longitudinal holding loops.
2. A folding carrying case comprising a flexible back, members of similar material aflixedv thereto intermediate its length to form transverse pockets, a holding member aflixed, to one edge of said back, and means for detachably securing the opposite end thereof to the back near its other edge, said holding member when thus secured lying over and covering said pockets, a pair of holding strips secured to said holding member and disposed in longitudinal relation to 06 m of this uneasy be obtained for the back, a pair of rows of antifriction eyelets in each of said holding strips, flexible cords laced through said eyelets of each holding strip to form a plurality of pairs of longitudinal holding loops in each of said holding strips.
3. A. folding carrying case comprising a flexible back, members of similar material aflixed thereto intermediate its length to form transverse pockets, a holding member aflixed to one edge of said back, and means for detachably securing the opposite end thereof to the back near its other edge, said holding member when thus secured lying over andcovering said pockets, a pair of holding strips secured to said holding member and disposed in longitudinal relation to the back, a pair of rows of antifriction eyelets in each of said holding strips, flexible cords laced through said eyelets of each holding strip to form a plurality, of pairs of longitudinal holding loops in each of said holding strips, a pair of transversely folding overlapping flaps at the sides of the holding member, and means for fastening the overlapping parts of said flaps together, and means for fastening, the ends of the back together. p 4:. A folding carrying case comprising-a flexible back, members of similar material afiixed thereto toform transverse pockets, some of said pockets being intermediate the length of said back, aholding member affixed to one edge of said back opposite said intermediate pockets, and means for -de tachably securing the opposite end of said holding member to the back near its other edge, a pair of holding strips secured to said holding member and disposed in longitudinal relation to the-back, a pair of rows of 1 anti-friction eyelets ineach of said holding strips, a flexible cord laced through the eyelets of each holding strip to form a plurality of pairs of longitudinal holding loops in each of said holding strips, a pair of transversely folding overlapping flaps at the sides of the holding member, means for fastening the overlapping parts of said flaps together, means for fastening the ends of the back together, said back being provided at onesof its ends With means for hanging the case.
