Be it known that I, EMRY NnMn'rH, a sub- `iect of the King of Hungary, and a resident of'New York, in the county of New York and State of New York7 have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Locks, of which the following is' a specification.
The invention relates to locks for doors a nd the like, and more particularly to certain details of construction whereby the lock will afford positive protection against unauthon' ized opening. A furthei1 object is to Iprovide a simple and inexpensive lock and one which will not readily get out of order. i
The nature of the invention will be bes understood when described in connection with the accompanying' drawings, in which,
Figure 1 is a vertical section through the lock immediately inside one of the side walls thereof.
Fig. 2- is a transverse section taken on the line 2 2, Fig. 1.
Similar characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawings, 1() designates a suitable casing formed as a rectangular box member, as is well understood, and at one end of which is the bolt member 11 having two rods or arms 12 which are adapted to be thrown beyond the face plate 18 andare surrounded by springs 14: adapted to retract said arms to clear the face plate. The said bolt member 11 has a projection 15 extending inwardly and radially` with `respect to a disk 16 rotatably mounted on a bushing 17. This disk is provided with a slot 18 designed to register with said projection and directed radially from the circumference inwardly a sufficient distance to permit the said arms 12, when the projection 15 of the bolt member 11 seats in said slot, to be fully retracted under the influence of the springs 141. This will unlock the door (not shown) carrying said lock and permit of its being freely opened.
In order to lock same, a cam member 20 is mounted to rotate with the bushing 17 and a similar cam member 21 with a second bushing 17 mounted within the bushing 17.
These cams move over the respective facesl of said disk 16 to engage the projection 15 which is made to extend beyond the surfaces of the said disk. Rotation of said cams 20 or 21 may be imparted thereto, on the one side of the lock, by means of'a suitable knob or the like 22 secured to the bushing 17; and at the other side of the lock, a suitable key, combination or other lock device 23 may be provided to effect the turning of bushing 17 through a bar 24 secured in an axial slot 25 thereof. As a cam 20 or 21 is thus rotated, projection 15 is gradually forced out radially from its slot 18; and when it has entirely cleared same, a tension spring 26, attached to said casing and to the said disk, will rotate the latter until its motion is stopped through engagement of a projection 27 0f the Casing with a tooth or the like 28 extending from the circumference of said disk. The bolt member is then in effective locking position and cannot be retracted until the slot 18 `is returned to the proper position. This may be effected by turning the knob, key or like device in the reverse di rection, thereby correspondingly rotating the cams 2O or 21, which, through engagement with a pin 29 extending outwardly from the surfaces of said disk, Causes the latter to follow the rotation of said cam until the bolt member is `shot back into slot 18 under the action of the springs 14;.
`I claim: i
1. A lock, con'iprising: a rotatably mounted disk positively located to assume two predetermined positions and provided with a radial slot; a bolt member mounted to move radially Vwith respect to said disk and having a projection to engage the slot thereof; and means rotatable relatively to said disk to engage said projection and force the same outwardly beyond said disk.
2. A lock, comprising: a rotatable bushing; a disk rotatably mounted with respect thereto, positively located to assume two predetermined positions, and provided with a radial slot; a bolt member mounted to move radially with respect to said disk and having a projection to engage the slot thereof; and means rotatable with said bushing relatively `to said disk to engage said projection and force the same outwardly beyond said disk.

A lock, comprising: a rotatable bushing; a springfdrawn circular disk rotatably mounted withrespect thereto and provided with a radial slot; a bolt member mounted to move radially with respect to said disk and having a projection to engage the slot thereof; and means rotatable with said bushing` relatively to said disk to engage said projection and force the same outwardly beyond said disk.

A lock; comprising: a rotatably mounted disk provided with a radial slot; a bolt member mounted to move radially with respect to said disk and ha ving a projection to engage the slot thereof; means rotatable relatively to said disk to engage said projection and force the same outwardly beyond said disk; and means to limit the rotation of said disk.

A' lock; comprising: a rotatably mounted disk provided with ay radial slot; a bolt member mounted to move radially with rcspeet. to said disk and having a projection to engage the slot thereof; means rotatable relativelyv to said disk to engage said projection and force the same outwardly beyond vsaid disk; and means adapted to effect an engagement between said disk and the )rejection engaging means to rotate the former with the latter in a predetermined direction only.
G. A lock, comprising: a rotatable bushing; a spring-drawn circular disk rotatably mounted with respect thereto and provided with a radial slot; a bolt member mounted to move radially with respect to said disk and having a. projection to engage the slot thereof; means rotatable with said bushing relatively to said disk to engage said proj ection and force the same outwardly beyond said disk; a stop; and a tooth extending from the rcircumference of said disk to engage said stop to limit the rotation of said disk.
7. ik lock; comprising: a rotatable bushn ing; a spring-drawn circular disk rotatably mounted lwith respect thereto and provided withy a radial slot; a bolt member mounted te move radially with respect to said disk and havin a projection to engage the slot thereof; and a cam rotatable with said bushingrelatively to said disk to engage said projection and force the same outwardly beyond said disk.
8. A lock; comprising: a rotatable bushing; a spring-drawn circular disp rotatably mounted with respect thereto and provided with a radial slot; a bolt member mounted to move radially with respect to said disk and having a projection to engage the slot thereof; a cam rotatable with said bushing relatively to said disk to engage said projection and force the same outwardly beyond said disk; and a pin projecting from the surface of said disk adapted to be engaged by said cam. 4

A lock, con'iprising: a rotatable bushing; a disk rotatably mountedA with respect thereto, positively located to' assume two predetermined positions, and provided with a radial slot; a bolt member mounted to move radially with respect to said disk and havinga projection to engage the slot thereof; means rotatable with said bushing relatively to said disk to engage said projection and force the same outwardly beyond said disk; a second bushing rotatable within said irst-named bushing; means rotatable with said second bushing relatively to said disk to engage the said projection and force the same outwardly beyond said disk; a bar mounted within the second bushing to rotate same; means to rotate said first-named bushing; and means to rotate said bar.
l0. A lock; comprising: a rotatable bushing; a spring-drawn circular disk rotatably mounted thereon and provided with a radial slot; a bolt member mounted to move radially with respect to said disk and having a projection to engage the slot thereof; a
.cam rotatable with said bushing;- relatively to said disk o engage said projection and force the same outwardly beyond the said disk; a second bushiuill rotatable within said first-named bushing; a cam rotatable with said second bushing relatively to said disk to engage said projection and force the same outwardly beyond said disk; a bar mounted within the second bushing to rotate same; means to rotate said first-named bushing; means to rotate said bar; a stop; a tooth extending from the circumference of said disk to engage said stop to limit the rotation of said disk; and a pin projecting` beyond both surfaces of said disk to be engaged by the respective cams.
ll. A tensioned, rotatable disk locking,- member provided with a slot; a bolt member spring urged in the direction of said slot and provided with means adapted to lit the same; and means rotatable relatively to said disk locking' member to disengagc said bolt member therefrom; whereby said lockingv member automatically rotates and presents its circumference as an abutment to prevent retraction of the bolt member.

A tensioned; rotatable disk locking' member provided with a slot; a bolt member springv urged in the direction of said slot and provided with means adapted to fit the same; means rotatable relatively to said disk locking member to disengage said bolt member therefrom. whereby said locking member automatically rotates and presents its circumference as an almtmcnt to prevent retraction of the bolt member; and means to restore said bolt member to engagement with the said locking' member.
