annoia-encantan.
To all whom t mail concern Be it known that I, GEORGE S. JENNINGs, a citizen of the United States, and a resldent of Jennings, in the county of Hamilton and State of Florida, have invented a new and improved Lemon-Squeezer, oi which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to the type of lemon are provided to eject the rind or squeezed lemon.
My invention has for its object to improve in various particulars lemon squeezers of the indicated character tothe end that the ejector will be unfailingly operated to eject the squeezed lemon and unfailingly caused to resume its position after ejecting movement.
rlhe improved construction and arrangement oi' the parts characterizing my invention and the advantages thereof will clearly appear 'from the specific description follow- 1n iglteference is vto be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification in which similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts in all the views, it being understood that the drawings merely illustrate one example of the invention.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a lemon squeezer embodying my invention;
Fi 2 is a transverse vertical section on the line 2 2, Fig. 1; l
Fig. 3 is a detail in vertical section on the line 3-3, Fig. 2;
Fig.. 4 is a fragmentary plan view of the socket or seat provided foi-'the lemon and the ejector.
1n carrying out my invention in practice a suitable frame is provided having a base 11 to receive a tumbler or other container A for catching the lemon juice, and provided with a table 12 having a cup 13 oi? any approved form constituting a socket for receiving a lemon to be squeezed. 'l` he cup may be of ordinary construction having an outlet or outlets for the juice. ,A separate strainer 14 may be employed beneath the cup y13, said strainer in the form shown heing carried or formed on the outer end of an arm 15 secured as at 16 to the upright portionof the :trame 10. A squeezing lever 17 is pivoted at one end on an upright 18 or other convenient member of the trame 16 and carries at its under side a squeezer 19 Spccication of Letters Patent.

to engage a lemon in the cup 13 in the usual L manner.
rllhe numeral 2() designates an ejector which is formed with a suitable frame, being pivoted at ond side thereof as at 21 to the table 12 to swing onto the latter and parallel therewith, or to an upright position at right angles to the table as indicated in dotted lines, Fig. 1. lin the frame of the ejector are wires or rods 23 bent into concave form to conform generally to the interior of the cup 13, and the wires being spaced to pass the sides of the usual knife 22 in the cup. At the side or' the ejector 20 1s an arm 24 extending beyond the pivots 21 and said arm 24 is connected bya link 25 with one end of a lever 26 which is Eulcrumed between its ends as at 29 on a hanger 30 or other iiXed part of the frame struc- A slot and pin connection is provided between the link 25 and the lever 26, there being a slot 28 in the illustratedexamthrough the slot and formed with ears hetween which the link is received and to which it is fastened by a second pin 27a but any other suitable connection may be established. A retractile spring 3l is secured as at, 32 to the base 11 or other iXed part and theoppo-site end of the spring is secured to a hook 33 or equivalent means on the other arm of the lever 26 at the opposite end from the link 25.
1n order to trip the lever 26 for operating the ejector, l provide a depending trip arm 3e which is loosely hung at its upper end on a transverse arm 35 rigid with the squeezing lever 171 A notch 36 is produced in an edge of the arm 341 and is adapted to engage a pin 37 extending laterally from the lever 26 adjacent to the spring 31. A retractile spring 38 is provided connected at one end with the arm 34 between the upper and lower ends thereof and preferably nearest to the upper end, and the said spring being secured on its other end to the table 12 or other fixed part. rThe arrangement is such that with the squeezing lever in the position shown in full lines, Fig. 1, which it occupies after the squeezing operation, the arm 34 will be held bly the Spring 38 against the trip pin 3'? on t e lever 26 but the notch 36 will be considerably below said pin. Thus, the squeezing lever 1? "may have an initial movement pin 27 extending at the lower end of said arm through a considerable angle in raising the same before the notch 36 arrives at the pm 37 at which time the spring 38 will snap the trip arm 3 4 into engagement with the pin 37 so that upon a continued upward movement of the squeezing lever, the lever 26 will be rocked in a manner to depress the arm 24 of the ejector 20, thereby swinging said ejector on its pivot 21 and causing the rind or squeezed lemon to be ejected, the ejector at this time occupying the dotted line position indicated in Figs. l and 2. The stated position of the ejector will have been reached before the squeezing lever has been moved through an angle of 90O and upon the aetu ating lever of the ejector reaching approximately the horizontal position indicated in dotted lines, Fig. l, the further upward movement of the tri arm 34e willV cause the latter to disengage itself from the pin 37,
thereby freeing the lever 26 and the trip arm 34, allowing the squeezing lever to be moved without being subject to the action of the spring 3l.v
Having thus described my invention, l". claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent;
l. A lemon squeezer comprising a structure having at the top thereof a cup to receive a lemon to be squeezed, a lever having a squeezer thereon and movable to and from said cup, an ejector pivoted on the said structure to swing toand from said cup, an actuating lever pivoted between its ends on the said structure below the cup, one arm of said actuating lever having a slot and pin connection with the ejector,. a spring conneeeceo nected at one end with the other arm of the said actuating lever and connected at its opposite end with a relatively fixed member of said structure, and a Sprlng pressed trip arm hung on the squeezing lever and having a trip member engageable with the actuating lever after an initial upward movement of the squeezing` lever.
2. A lemon squeezer comprising a structure having at the top thereof a cup to receive a lemon to be squeezed, a lever having a squeezer thereon and manually movable to and from said cup, an ejector pivoted on the Structure to swing to and from said cup, an actuating lever on the said Structure below the cup, means connecting the lever with the ejector, and a spring pressed trip arm loosely hung on the squeezing lever and having a trip member thereon movable with the trip arm past and clear of the actuating lever on the downward stroke of the squeezing lever, said trip arm being engageable with the actuating lever to trip the saine only after an initial upward movement of the squeezing lever.,
3. The combination in a lemon squeezer of a supporting Structure having a cup for a lemon to be squeezed, a squeezing lever, movable to and from Said cup, an ejector pivoted on said structure to swing to and from Said cup, a lateral arm on said ejector, an actuating lever pivoted between its ends on said structure below said cup, a link connecting one arm of said lever with the arm on the ejector, a lateral trip pin on the other arm of Said actuating lever at a side thereof, a trip arm loosely hung at its upper end on the squeezing lever, and having a catch ineinber thereon on an edge disposed toward the said trip pin, said catch member being mov able past and Clear of the trip pin in the downward movement of the lever, a spring tending to move the said trip arm toward said trip pin.
