Speeication of etters Patent.

Application filed october H, i916. Serial No. 124,945.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, Louis Anous, a citizen ot' the United States, residing at Chicago, Cook county, State of illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lrousers-Supporters, ot which the following, taken in. connection with. the drawings, is a description.
The primary object of myv invention is to provide a garment supporter of the class designed to be worn inside the Waist band of a garment for the purpose of holding the garment in proper position, preventing the same from sagging or wrinklingl at the waist line and to give a better' shape in outward appearance to the garment itself.
A further object el" my invention isto provide such a supporter to be used particularly with menls trousers, such supporter having: a belt provided with upwardly en lendingl stays or supports having attaching devices adapted to be engaged with buttons or other tastenings secured to the garment and thereby maintain the same in proper position.
A further object oi' the invention is to provide such a supporter whieh'is designed to fit snugly around the body ot1 the 'wearer -outside et the shirt, waist,or other gan ment, thereby holding the saine in proper position, at the same time supporting the trousers or other garment in place without the use ot' Suspenders at the outer belt, as is customary.
in the accompanying drawings, l have illustrated whatl now oonsiderthe preferred form of my invention, although in the practical embodiment of the same .li contemplate its use with other garments and with a greater or lesser number of supporting members suited to the purpose for which it is to be used. ln these drawings,
Figure 1 isa perspective view of the waist band of a pair et trousers having;1 my supporter arranged in place in connection with the same;
Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail oit the belt and one ot' the supportingmembers., a portion being broken away to show the oonstruction;
Fie'. 8 is an enlarged vertical, sectional detail of the supporter and the waist band to which it is attached.
For the purpose oi illustration, in carry ingr out my invention, represents the upper body portion of a pair of trousers provided with buttons a attached to the inside oi the waist band ot the trousers in the proper position lor attaehing Suspenders, it Suspenders were being worn. A belt Bis provided of any suitable material, preferably fabric, having attached at each end thereof a 'fastening means such as a buckle Z), shown in Fig. l.
ttaehed to this belt and extending upwardly therefrom are a plurality of stays or braces C, preferably formed of thin, nonrustable inetal. having one end thereof o bent upon itself to t'orm a loop extending transversely across the end of the stay.
rfluitably engaged within this loop by passing therethrough is one side ot' a wire fastener l preferably 'formed in the shape shown in Fig. 2, having; lone straight side formingy a hinging engagement with the loop c ol the stay, and one curved side o. lV'hen in use one of the buttons .fr of the garment is passed through this :fastener )"the curve c' of the fastener taking over the button engaging n'ieans and holding the same in proper position.
A. easing;p l), preferably ot fabric, incloses the stay C, and is secured by stitching or otherwise directly to the belt B.
A. plurality of these upwardly extending stays are provided with eaeh belt and ar- "anged wherever desired to make the proper engagement with the fastening devices on the garment with `which the supporter is to be worn. To adjust the saine, the wire fastener C on the iti-ce end of each stay is removably attached to the button a on the garment with the curve e on the wire fastener pointina` downward on the inside' of the garment band. The buckle is then adjustedto iit the body of the wearer and the device is ready to use, itbeing necessary simply to engage and disengage the buckle l; when the garment is tobe worn.
it will be observed that the Supporter may be easily and prickly removed from the gar ment by simply disonraging` each wire fastoning,r C Jfrom the button on the garment to remove the saine when desired, no stitclv ing or other permanent fastenings being.;r utilized between the supporter and the garment with which it is used.
'i claim:
l. A garment supporter comprising a heit, a plural ity of upwardly-extending stay liti() members eecuied t0 suidbelt, und a rigid attaching member hingeclly secured t0 each of Said stay members, substantially as described.
2. A garment supporter comprising a belt of iexible material, a plurality of up- Warclly extending stay members secured to said belt, a casing ine-losing each of said stay members, and zt rigid attaching device pivot- :Llly secured to the free end of cach stay member, substantially as decribed.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification.
LOUIS ARONS.
