HAME AND NECK-YOKE ATTACHMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 1c, 1918.
Application filed September 29, 1916. Serial No.'122,941.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE AUGUSTUS HERRON, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and residing at Pembroke, in the Province of Ontario and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hames and Neck-Yoke Atthe several parts to better perform the functions required of them.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists essentially of the improved construction particularly described and set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings forming part of the same.
In the drawings,
Figure 1 is a perspective vlew of the attachment mounted on the neck-yoke and showing the strap engaging with the attachment.
Fig. 2 is a front elevation partly sectional of the improved attachment.
Like characters of reference refer to like parts in the several figures.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a neck-yoke of a vehicle and B the strap which is operatively connected to the hames of a horses harness the said strap being connected to the neck-yoke by the attachment G.
This attachment consists of a substantially U-shaped member 10 having ofiset ends 11, provided with orifices 12 there through with which the pin 13 engages.
Rotatably mounted on the pin 13 is a roller 14 which engages with the strap B, the periphery of the roller on the lower side being in alinement with the offset inner face of the ends 11 as shown at 15, the U-shaped member having its edges rounded off adjacent to the roller 14, so that should the strap be moved laterally and engage with the U- shaped member 10, the strap will not be chafed or become torn in any way,
The U-shaped member 10 is loosely mounted in the eyelet 16 formed on the end of the pin 17, which is driven into the end of the necleyolze.
The assembly of the attachment will be readily understood from the foregoing description.
l/Vhen a vehicle fitted with this device is in use, the hames strap B will move freely on the roller 14: and conform to the requirements of the horse, which may be pulling in sidewise or any other direction without any bad effect on the said strap.
It will be readily seen that by the useof this attachment C the strain on the horse is greatly reduced, while the saving on the harness is quite appreciable.
As many changes could be made in the above construction and many apparently widely difierent embodiments of my invention within the scope of the claim, constructed without departing from the spirit or scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specification and drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
What I claim as my invention is:
A device of the class described, comprising a pin having an eyelet in the end thereof, a U-shaped member engaging with the eyelet and having offset ends provided with inner surfaces curved to merge with the inner walls of the legs, a pin engaging with the offset ends and a roller rotatably mounted on the last said pin, the periphery of the roller on the lower side being in alinement with the inner walls of the offset ends of the U-shaped member.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE AUGUSTUS HERRON.
Witnesses:
JAMES MITCHELL, R. ODoNNELL.
