provide means for journaling a short'rock shaft 18, one end whereof projects beyondthe end of bearing 17 and has the adjacent end of an arm 19 secured thereto. The opposite end of this arm 19 terminates at a point adjacent stud 12 and has a film engaging roller 20 journaled laterally thereon. This roller is of the ordinary spool type in order that'only the margins of the film on spindle 12 will be engaged thereby and has a relatively wide flange 21, that is adapted to rest against the edges of the coiled film on said spindle opposite disk 13.
The opposite end of rock-shaft 18 extends through bearing 16 and has a sleeve 22 mounted thereon and keyed thereto so as.

A short arm or embossment 23 extends from one side of sleeve 22 and a pin 24 projects outwardly from said embossmen't in a horizontal plane above the horizontal plane of the axis of rock-shaft 18. This pin is so disposed as to have one end of a coiled contraction spring 25 secured thereto and the opposite end of said spring is secured to the outer end of a stud 26 projecting from-the upper edge of the lateral arm 11 of the frame, the tension exerted by said spring being adapted to rock the shaft 18 so as to press the roller 20 down against the film on the'spool. The
disposition of the spring 25 is such that when shaft 18' is rocked sufliciently to cause the pin 24 to pass the dead center with respect to the rock-shaft and stud 26, the arm 19 will be moved to and retained in a substantially vertical position, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. e

Carried by the embossment 23, on sleeve 22, is a hollow barrel 42, in which a threaded bolt 44 is disposed .so that its enlarged or conical shaped head 43 projects out of the end of the bore of said barrel adjacent the finger 41, and is adapted to engage the A coiled spring46 is adapted to be compressed between said head 43 and the opposite end of the boreof said barrel, and a lock nut 45 is mounted upon the extended threaded end of the bolt 44 to prevent its accidental rotation, the adjustment of said bolt being for the purpose of regulating the relative movement of the rock-shaft and disk 39 with respect to the moment of the snapping of the switch 27 by the plunger,
its arm 19 are raised so that the spring 25 will hold them in an elevated or vertical position (Fig. 2), and after the spool has been positioned, said armis lowered until the roller engages and rests upon an upper segment of the roll of film. The plunger 33 is now raised by its hand grasp 36, thus opening the switch and permitting the motor to actuate the drive shaft or other operating mechanism it is adapted to drive, and it will be seen that this movement of plunger'33 will cause the disk 39 to be moved upwardly until its finger 41 is in close proximity to the conical head 43 of bolt 44, providing the necessary adjustment of the latter has been made. The operating mechanism withdraws film from the roll constantly reducing the diameter of the V latter and causing the roller 20 and its arm 19 to be lowered and consequently the shaft 18 rocked, which latter will move the bolt head 43 against the finger 41 of disk 39, and thereby, through the upper one of the pair of fingers 40, push down the plunger 33. Proper adjustment having been made to the bolt 44,-it will be found that when the final or innermost coil of the roll of film is unwound from the spool, the

What I claim as new is 1. Stop mechanism comprising a switch, a reciprocable member adapted to operate the. same, and devices for actuating said member consisting of a rocking element, a gravity operated arm connected to said element, and a roll of film supporting the free end of said arm, the unwinding of said roll adapted to change the relative position of said arm whereby said member is reciprocated to operate said switch..

The combination with an arbor adapted to receive a roll of film, of a switch, and means for actuating said switch consisting of a reciprocable member, a rock-shaft, a pivoted device movable with said reciprocable member, an arm mounted on s'aid'rock shaft the free end whereof moves with respect to said film and is controlled there and ;means operativel'y' connecting said I shaft and said pivoted device wherebywhen said am has reached a predetermined osition said device will actuate said-mem er a and cause said switch to be operated.
