' Specification of Letters Patent.
Application flledApriH'ZrlMh- Serial no. 162,699.
To all whom it may concem: I
Be it known that I, FRANK A. ,VVHITE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in 'Dispensillig- Faucets, of which the following is a spec cation.
This invention relates to dispensing faucets, for soda or similar'fluids, and has for its object to provide an improved faucet by 'means of which various syrups as well as the .charged water may be dispensed from the same nozzle, thereby avoiding the necessity and saving the time for shifting a glass from the syrup nozzles to'the soda nozzle.
The inventlon comprises a plurality of syrup pipes, and a 'soda'pipe, all leading to the same nozzle, and controlled by a single lever which can be shifted to open any one of the outlets, and so mix the fluids, at
a single nozzle.
The accompanying drawmg is a vertical section of the faucet.
Referring specifically to the drawings, 1v
indicates an upright tubular casing which will be mounted on the counter or stand, and at the top it has anoverhanging elbow indicated at 2, the front of which isclosed by a plate 3. An operating lever 4 is fulcrumed on a turning stud 5 at the center of this face plate, and may be swung around to register with any one, of the operating .devices to be described. The elbow of the casing has a depending spout 6 at the under side thereof through or from which all the li uids are dispensed,
rojecting through'the holes the face plate are a plurality of push rods 8, corresponding to the different syrups. These rods work through a guide 25 in the casing and are connected by bell cranks 9 to rods 10 which control the supply 'of syrups through a corresponding set of pipes 11, the controlling valves to which the rods 10 are connected not being shown. The pipes 11 discharge into the spout 6.
The casing also contains a water pipe 15 which terminates in a ring pipe 16 extending around the upper end of the spout 6 and provided with jet holes 17 to discharge Patented Apr. 9, 1918..-
water against the inner wall of the spout and wash any adhering syrup therefrom. The flow through the pipe 15 is controlled v by a valvel which is normally closed by a spring 23, and has a stem 13 located in position'to beoperated by the arm 12 of the lever 4. V
The casing also contains a supply pipe 20 for the soda or charged water, and this pipe terminates in a jetnozzre 21 in the mouth of the spout 6. The flow is controlled by a valve 19 the stem of 'which is connected to a push rod 18, which works through the face plate 3, in position to be operated by the lever 4, the valve being-"closed by a spring 22 attached. to the crank arm on the stem.
until it registers with any one of the rods 8 controlhng the syrup of the desiredflavor and by 'pressing in on the lever 4 the rod In operation, the lever 4 is swung around I is pushed in and the syrup flows through openings 17 to wash the syrup from the interior of the spout, thereby leaving the spout clean for the next flavor. Finally, the lever 4 is pushed in gainst the rod 18 to open the valve 19, pe mitting thev discharge of the sodawater through the nozzle 21 and into the glass below the spout 6.
Bythe means described, a glass of soda water of the desired flavor can be quickly dispensed without shifting the glass from one nozzle to another, and the device will be found very useful at soda fountains and similar places.
I claim: I
1. A dispensing faucet comprising an upright casing having an overhanging elbow and a spout depending from said elbow, a plurality of supply pipes extending upwardly in the casing and bent downwardly to discharge into the spout, means to selectively discharge liquids from said pipes to the spout, and a ring shaped water pipe extending around within the upper part of the spout and having jet holes directed to-'- 5 ward the inner surface of the spout.
- 2. A dispensing faucet comprising a spout,-
I a, plurality of syrup pipes dlscharging into the same, a water pipe provided with jet holes directed toward the inner surface of" said spout, and means to selectively control 10 the flow of liquids from said syrup and water pipes, f
In testimony whereof, I do aifix my signature in presence of two witnesses. FRANK A. WHITE. Witnesses:
