Description

tilt it;
WILLIAM JEELDENHEIMER, OF LONDON, ENGLAND.
SOLIKE DETERGENT AND THE MANUFACTURE THEREQF.
No Drawing.
To allnwhom it may concern."
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM Farminnunrnn, a subject of the King of England, residing at London, in England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Soaplike Detergents and the Manufacture Thereof, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is for improvements in or relating to soap-like detergents and the manufacture thereof by the boiling process with separation of glycerin, and has for its ob ject to produce a good quality soap-like substance or soap-stock (that is the same. sub stance when in the condition in-which a true soap is known as soap-stocklfrom the lyes which have been separated from the soapmixture during the ordinary process of manufacture and contain the glycerin as usual.
According to this invention, the sep arated lyes (or the mixture of lyes and curds iii) which latter consists of particles of soap contained in the lyes) has added to it when ata temperature of between 80 to 90 (3., ground maize-cones in the proportion of approximately 15% by weight of the lyes or the lyes estimated to be contained in the mixture.
Preferably after adding the ground maizecones the temperature of the mixture is raised to boiling-point and when cooled it sets to a jelly which is found to possess all the properties of a good water-soluble soap.
Maize-cones are a form of finely ground maize well known in England, the maize being ground into hygroscopic cones so that the ground material feels granular.
If desired, about 15% by weight of chinaclay can be added in addition ,to the ground maizerones, while the lyes or soap mixture is at 80 to 90 C., and when this is done, the mixture when cooled has the consistency of a thick white cream and still possesses many of the useful properties found in what is popularly known as a good water-soluble soap.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is p 1. The process of manufacturing a soaplike detergent or soap-stock from lyes such as commonly result from the boiling process with separation of gylcerinin the manufacture of soap, consisting in adding to the lyes when at a temperature of between 80 to 90 C. with the gylcerin therein, ground maize- Specification of Letters latent.

' manufacture of soap, consisting in adding to the lyes containing the usual curds, that 1s, soap particles, as well as the glycerin, when at a temperature of between 80 to 90 C., ground maize-cones in the proportion of approximately 15% by weight of the lyes estimated to be contained in the mixture, substantially as set forth.
3. The process of manufacturing a soaplike detergent or soapstock from lyes such as commonly result from the boiling process with separation of glycerin in the manufacture of soap, consisting in addingito the lyes when at a temperature of between 80 to 90 C. with the glycerin therein, ground maizecones in the proportion of approximately 15% by weightof the lyes, and finally raising the mixture containing the maize-cones to boiling pointbefore it is allowed to cool, substantially as set forth.
4. The process of manufacturing a soaplike detergent or soap-stock from lyes such as commonly result from the boiling process with separation of glycerin in the manufacture of soap, consisting in adding to the lyes when at a temperature of between 80 and 90 C. with the glycerin therein, ground maize-cones in the proportion of approximately 15% by weight of the lyes and 15% by weight of china-clay, substantially as set forth.
5. The process of manufacturing a soaplike detergent from the lyes containing glycerin resulting from soap manufacture, which consists in adding ground maize-cones to the lyes, substantially as set forth.
