DISINFECTING DEVICE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CLINTON D. KEAGY, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Castle, in the county of Lawrenceand State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Disinfecting Devices, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a disinfecting device and more particularly to a device for retaining a disinfectant within the money container of a cash box or cash register whereby all of the coins and currency within the container may be thoroughly disinfected.

The principal object of the invention is to provide the cash drawer of a cash box or a cash register with a plurality of plates having a series of perforations for permitting the fumes from the disinfectant to circulate through and around the money while,

. as blotting paper or the like and these strips at the same time, the disinfectant device occupies a minimum space within the money drawer.

As a further object of the invention the covers are arranged above a plurality of layers of absorbent material such as blotting paper or the like and which are'saturated with any suitable disinfectant.

A further object of this invention is the provision of a disinfecting device which consists of comparatively few parts and is simple in construction, but durable and well adapted to withstand the rough usage to which devices of this character are ordi narily subjected.

For a full description of the invention and the advantages and merits thereof, reference is to be had to the following description and the accompanying drawings, wherein is illustrated the preferred form of my invention, in which;

Fig. 6 is a section on the line 66 of fieferring to the drawing, wherein is illu and in which like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the preferred form of the invention, as described in Figs. 1 and 2, dis closes a money drawer 1 having a plurality of currency compartments 2 formed in its rear portion and which are spaced apart by the partitions 3. The forward portion of the drawer is occupied by the coin container which has a plurality of the usual cups or depressions 4 into which the coins are. deposited.

As clearly shown by Fig. 2 of the drawing, the currency compartment 2 is provided with a receptacle 5 of substantially rectangular formation and adapted to fit snugly within each compartment 2. The depth of the receptacle 5 is suflicient to receive a plurality of strips 6 of absorbent material such are saturated with any suitable disinfectant fluid. The receptacle 5 is provided with a cover plate 7 which has a plurality of ordinarily arranged concaved portions in its upper surface for providing a plurality of dished portions 8. Each concaved portion 8 has a plurality of apertures through which the fumes from the strips .6 are permitted to pass into the compartments 2 whereby the currency arranged within the compartments may be thoroughly disinfected. The concaved or dished portions 8 are provided for tha purpose of permitting the disinfecting liquid to, be poured through the apertures when the strips of absorbent material 6 become dry. By reason of this arrangement of the depressed portions 8, the liquid may.

be poured into the concaved portions and thus evenly distributed over the strips 6.

In Figs. 3 and 4 of the drawing I have 'illustrated my invention as applied to a drawer having its whole bottom surface covered. In this instance the receptacle9 is mounted on the bottom of the whole drawer and is of shallow depth for receiving two or more sheets of blottin paper 10 which are saturated with the disinfectant. This receptacle 9 is also provided witha .cover plate 11 adapted to be disposed within the drawer and completely cover the receptacle 9. A plurality of concaved portions 12 are each provided with a series of apertures for permitting the disinfectant fumes to pass into the upper portion of the drawer.

I claim:

1. A disinfectant-device comprising a receptacle of shallow depth and adapted to be fitted in a money drawer, a plurality of strips of disinfectant material arranged within thevneceptacle, and a retaining plate carried by the receptacle and provided with a plurality of apertures, certain portions of the said cover plate being concaved, the said openings being extended through the concaved portions.

2. A disinfectant device for a money drawer comprising a receptacle of shallow depth adapted to be mounted in the money drawer, a plurality of strips of absorbent material arranged within the receptacle in nasaeoe superposed relation and saturated with a disinfectant liquid, a retaining plate mounted on the receptacle and covering the said strips, the said plate having a plurality of fumes from the said disinfectant liquid.

3. A disinfectant device comprising a receptacle of relatively shallow depth 5311C]. havinga plurality of superposed strips of disinfectant material arranged therein and completely covering the bottom thereof, a retaining plate mounted upon the receptacle and covering the said strip and provided with a plurality of concaved portions having their depressed surfaces engaged with the uppermost of the said strips, the said depressed portions being perforated to permit the escape of the fumes from the strips of disinfectant material at the point where they are engaged by the said depressed por' tions of the retaining plate.
