HAIR-PIN.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan.8,19i8.
Application filed May 29, 1917. Serial No. 171,704. a
To dz; whom it may concern:
Be it known that I. HAZ'LEHURST R.
Noyes, a citizen of the United States, resid- '.ing at- Savannah, in' the county of Chatham and State of Georgia, have invented certain. new and useful Improvements in Hair-Pins, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in hair-pins, and has for its object, the provision of such a device having means whereby it will be held in the hair of the wearer with the maximum degree'of security against accidental displacement. A further object of the invention is to provide a hair-pin of the above mentioned character, which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, and convenient in use.
Other objects and advantages of the in:
vention will be apparent during the course.
of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a hair-pin embodying my invention,
Fig. 2 is anedge elevation of the same, Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on 1ine3-3 of Fig. 1,
Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 4+4: of Fig. 1, and,"
A Fig. 5 is a similar View taken on line 55 of Fig. 1.
In the of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 5 designates an outer hair-pin section, which is substantially U-shaped, and formed of wire or other suitable material. This outer hair-pin section has waves or turns 6, formed therein, preferably between the ends thereof, as shown. The waves 6 are preferably arranged in the same plane.
Arranged within the hair-pin section 5 is .a hair-pin section 7 substantially U-shaped,
and formed of wire or other suitable material.
' The inner hair-pin section 7 is soldered drawings. wherein for the purposerangement that the device possesses the maximum degree of holding action with the I hair.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size, and arrangement of parts may be re sorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim 1. A hair-pin device comprising an outer hair-pin section provided with waves upon its opposite arms, which waves are disposed in substantially the same plane; and an inner hair-pin section secured to the outer hair-pin section and provided upon its 0pposite arms with waves, which are disposed in substantially parallel planes and atsubstantially a right angle to the plane of'the first named waves.
2. A hair-pin device comprising an outer hair-pin section provided with waves upon HAZLEHURST ROSS NOYES.
