To all whom it may concern."
Be it known that l, @scan Fl.' LsoN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of lllinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Spectacles, of which the following is a specication.
My invention relates to a new and useful toy spectacle construction which will be of durable and economical design, and which will be adapted to adord considerable amusement in use. Other yobjects will appear hereinafter.
'llhe invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
rlihe invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specilication, and in which,

.llhe preferred form of construction as illustrated in the drawings comprises two circular body members i which are connected by a bridge or nose piece 8 whereby the device may be applied to the nose of a user, as will be readily understood.
F he members 7 are formed with horizon taily elongated openings 9 of a form corresponding with the opening or slit of the human e e. At the rearward side of each is provided a disk 10 having a channel 11 formed therein which registers with the corresponding opening A. The disks 10 are secured to the members 7 by means of turned back ears or lugs 12 formed upon the latter, ears or lugs 13 being formed upon themembers 10 which close the ends of channels 11.
lt/founted in each of the channels 11 is a disk 14 designed and colored to correspond with the pupil and iris ofthe human eye. lFhe dime 14 are arranged, as seen, for espesura at the openings 9, the arrangement being such that said disks are freely slidable or shiftable relative to said openings, this relative shifting of the disks 14 having the appearance ofy shifting of the eyes or gaze of the user. Said disks 14 will be comparatively heavy so as to permit of the ready shifting of the same upon tilting of the device, the shifting `of said members being illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3. rFhe arrangement is such that the guide channels 11 are inclined slightly toward each other when the device is held horizontal, or the head of the user erect, in which position the members 14 will be positioned at the inner terminals of said guide channels as seen in Fig. 1. With this arrangement, then, it will be seen that the user of the device may edect apparent shifting of the eyes or gaze by simply tilting the head from side to side. rlhe effect of this movement of the members 14 is very amusing.
While li have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modication without departing from the spirit of the invention. l,
. therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described my invention what lf claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A toy spectacle construction comprising a pair of members operatively connected together, said members having openings therein; and shiftably mounted elements arranged for exposure at said openings, substantially as described.w
2. A toy spectacle construction comprising a pair of members operatively connected together, said members having openings therein; vshiftably mounted elements aru ranged for exposure at said openings; and means for guiding said elements in the shifting thereof, substantially as described.
3. A toy spectacle construction comprising a pair of members operatively connected. together, said memoers having openings therein; guideichambers provided at the rearward sides of said members; and shiftably mounted elements `arranged in said chambers for exposure at said openings, substantially as described 4. A toy spectacle construction comprising a pair of members operatively connectedY therein; comparatively shallow guide charnbers provided at the rearward sides of said members; and elements loosely mounted in said chambers for exposure at said openings, substantially as described.
6. A toy spectacle construction comprising a pair of members operatively connected together, said members having openings therein; comparatively shallow guide chambers provided at the rearward sides of said members; and comparatively thin disks slidably mounted insaid chambers for exposure at said openings, substantially as described.
7. A toy spectacle construction comprising a pair of members operatively connected together, said members having openings therein; shiftably mounted elements arranged for exposure at said openings; and means for guiding said elements in the shifting thereof, the guiding means coperatin with said members being normally inclined toward each other whereby said elements normally assume, by gravity, positions at the adjacent ends of said guides, when the device is held horizontal, substantially as described.
8. A toy spectacle construction comprising two spaced circular members having openings horizontally elongated; a bridge connecting said members; channeled guides at the rearward sides of said members registering with said openings; and disks slidably mounted in said guides for exposure at said openings, substantially as described.
