Description

c. c. JADWtN.
Construction of Funnel Attachments for Liquid Measures.
Patented March 12; 1872.
CORNELIUS O. JADWIN, OF HONESDALI], PENNSYLVANIA.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,492, dated March 12, 1872.
Specification describing a new a and useful Improvementin Funnel Attachment to Liquid- Measures, invented by CORNELIUS G. JADWIN, of Honesdale, in the county of NVayne and State of Pennsylvania.
My invention pertains to an improvement in the construction of liquid-measures provided with funnel attachments, as will be hereinafter fully described.
In the drawing, Figures 1 and 2, represent respectively a side and plan-view of a measure, constructed according to my invention, and Fig. 3 a plan-view of the blank, of which the main part of the funnel is formed. The last shows how the metal maybe economizedby utilizing the piece cut out to fit the base of the funnel to the top of the measure, for forming the bottom of the measure. The scale of the diagram is much less than that of the figures.
- A represents the body of the measure; B the main portion of the funnel, and O the nozzle.
I make the part B of a piece of sheet-metal,
in the form of the diagrams, Fig. 3, which is done by bending up the parts D, so that the. ends E will meet and join together at the seam F, While the parts G extend around the top of the can, when the circular edge H is soldered to said top. The said blank being thus bent up the outer edges of the parts Gr 1) are raised to form the upper end or mouth of the funnel, and the edge of the semicircular notch I forms the hole where the parts'E are joined, for the attachment of the nozzle, which may be soldered on or otherwise attached.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The plate D E G H I, of the form shown.
The above specification of my invention signed by me this 18th day of November, 1871 CORNELIUS O. J ADWIN Witnesses:
GEO. W. MABEE, T. B. MOSHER.
